Members TheGareth
OK so this is kind of related to the thread about the Zendrive. How much does it annoy you when a company, be it pedal builder or amp builder, doesn't reply to your emails? Would this put you off buying their product? Is it excusable for someone running a business on their own or is it simply bad manners? Lack of organisation? Laziness? This has happened to me a few times. A few years back, before MI Audio had any UK dealerships, I wanted to buy a Blues Boy Deluxe. I was all set for getting it and emailed them but they didn't reply. So I emailed again and they still didn't reply! In the end I just forgot about it. Another time was with a UK guitar shop. I had actually got in touch with Eric Catalinbread through the forum here asking him about the Hyper Pak and he told me that this particular shop would be getting some in stock in the coming weeks. I emailed these guys and they didn't reply so I sent them two more emails and they didn't reply to them either. I could have phoned them, yes, but why should I? I'm not going to run after these guys with my business. So, to sum it up, I think that it's bad for business when a company doesn't reply to emails from the customer. For a start I feel that it's bad mannered, secondly it shows a lack of organisation - any small businessman should have some time set aside each day to go through emails, phone calls etc. I'm sorry, but I don't care what you're building or selling or how busy you claim to be, no one dedicates every working hour to solely building their product. Everyone needs a break and other aspects of the business could well be addressed during these breaks.
Members TechBrother
I get the impression that some pedal builders get so much email that emails like yours get lost in spam filters. A lot of times if the builder has a contact form through their website they'll reply to that b/c it gets through the filter.
Members aaland_brian
I also think it has to do with a ridiculous volume of email, and a lot of small builders don't have a lot of extra time to go over emails, and not enough income to hire someone to run customer service. Unless you dealing with a major company I wouldn't get to upset or have your hopes up too high since the small builders do the best they can, and are usually really cool people with too much on there plate. Exactly. I get tons of email and occasionally one will get lost. I'm sure it's the same with everyone who has to deal with a large volume of messages. regards, Jack
Members chrismd465
A while ago i was trying to buy some bill lawrence pickups. I sent one, and it was promptly replied to, though i sent another, and another (just to be safe), and they were never replied to.I am no longer very interested, especially given how great their customer service was reputed to be. And it can't be a spam filter issue since my first mail went through
Members Optimus Prime
I'm dealing with this right now. I talked to the guy who builds the Bluebeard fuzz pedal in January. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me but he eventually did. I had some amp trouble and couldn't afford to fix that and buy his pedal. So I told him I'd order a month or so later. I sent him another email about 6 weeks ago saying I was ready to order. And another one 3 weeks ago to make sure he got the first one. Still nothing. I called Atomic Music and they said email is the only way to reach him. I was really psyched to get this pedal but it's not looking so good right now. Would it piss you off even more to learn that the guy you're contacting doesn't even build the pedals? UTTERLY UNESCUSABLE!Do yourself a favor and check out this thread:http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1942230&highlight=bluebeard+fuzzGives you a little more insight as to the pedal's origins. The Bluebeard Fuzz is a Big Muff tuned by Alfonso Hermida (how ironic?) and built by the guy @ General Guitar Gadgets. They sell it as a kit for $85 including other muff mod options. Members TheGareth
Because not everyone in the world communicates solely on email. :poke: A lot of companies do though, that's why they have email addresses in the first place. If it wasn't for the internet a hell of a lot of these boutique companies wouldn't be making as much as they would be if they were relying on word of mouth. I've heard before that the GGG tuned version IS the Bluebeard. So I might as well just order the kit. And build it instead of waiting and waiting for him to get back and overcharge me. I mean I could probably knock a kit out in how long, a few hours?

It might be made by JD Sleep but thats not what you get in the Big Muff kit so be wary of getting the same thing out of the kit. Ive built the GGG tuned muff and it doesn't sound like a Bluebeard. Sonny is a good friend of mine and he has always been upfront with people at Atomic about this pedal. I think the TechBro dude is being unnecessarily antagonistic really. Members HeartfeltDawn
I don't get annoyed if some builders don't email back quickly. I view them as being similar to Ebay sellers ie. they aren't businesses with a dedicated customer service department who can sit there on the phone and laptop and answer queries all day long. I'm getting increasingly pissed off with Ebay buyers who panic if you don't reply back to them and give them a delivery date within a few hours of the auction. By all means complain if it's been a week but give a man a day or two at least before getting silly. Reminds me, I must email Menatone about repairing a Red Snapepr pedal for me... I have no problem buying the pedal from him. If there's any faster way to get in touch with him tell me, I'll order today. I called Atomic Music and they said the only real way to order is to email him. But that hasn't worked out so well for me.

If someone is going to pay $170 for a muff clone they should know what they getting. Sonny didn't design the pedal, didn't build the pedal and didn't even finish/paint the pedal. I respect the fact that this man took the initiative to seek out a specific tone, found it and shared it with other people. And I will say that it's a GREAT SOUNDING FUZZ. If this guy is going to be a middleman of sorts then he should at least be efficient with communicating w/ customers. One thing I will say... if the pedal was pretty on the outside I would have totally bought the hype and wanted one.
