Members eyeball987
I was surprised to see a Box of Rock and one other pedal at GC today brand new. I felt like someone tossed some fuel onto my gas fire.
Members zachary vex
The Taiwan-made Vexter pedals (so far the Vexter Fuzz Factory and the Vexter Box of Rock) are now available at somewhere around 55 Guitar Center stores around the country. The hand-painted and other US-made Z.Vex products will continue to be available only at my original mom-and-pop dealers. GC will not be selling Z.Vex Vexter pedals through MF or online. So there's a difference to you in selling your pedals at GC but not through MF (which is the same company)? There is no difference Zach.
Members rileykill
Nothin' at the South Austin GC but that's ok because I'd rather buy Zvex (if I was so inclined) at Austin Vintage. Good strategy, Zach

Nice trolling. I'm guessing it has nothing to do with him respecting one brand over the other... it's about distribution. Zvex has online retailers, so he wouldn't want MF to compete with them. He specifically called out "55" as the number of GC stores allowed to sell Zvex... I'm guessing these are in markets where he doesn't have a mom and pop stores. If you think there's no difference between a catalog/online store and a brick-and-mortar store, you need your head examined. I mean that in the kindest of ways, of course... I'd suggest a professional. 8^)
Members ambys
I think this benefits everybody. GC obviously benefits by getting a small piece of the action. Zach benefits from getting his stuff in a mainstream/chain outlet and the recognition that comes with that. Smaller stores benefit from the exclusivity of the higher end pedals, and the customers who might not have been introduced to them if not for GC. You only missed two major points, IMHO. Wait... make that 3. But I'd rather let you think it through. I'll give you a hint with regards to one point... what about the end-users? Members ambys
GC offers no warranty??? I think he was referring to broader availability and cheaper manufacturing cost per unit, assuming more units sell.
Members zachary vex
Augh! Here are the other three pluses from this arrangement: 1] Increased availability for end users to personally test my products. 2] Increased advertising for my products (I don't advertise presently.) 3] Higher street-cred for GC. Members zachary vex
GC offers no warranty??? Dunno what you mean by that. There's a 2-year manufacturer's warranty on all Z.Vex Effects Vexter products. I believe, from some other posts I've read here, that GC has a pretty liberal return policy, too, even better than some mom-and-pop shops can offer.
