Members Burg
...but I'm damned if I can get my updater to log in with my user/pass . Maybe their server is in trouble, I dunno. Anyone had any luck? Many improvements, etc? I sure hope so..
Phil O'Keefe
How are you digging the ModFactor overall? Like it?
Members Burg
How are you digging the ModFactor overall? Like it? G'day Phil. The jury's still out on the Modfactor. I used it tonight at a fairly large outdoor gig, through a PTP Bassman clone with a Clapton Strat, and its phaser and rotary weren't too bad, but I wouldn't rate it as outstanding. I'm hoping for warmth, a decent chorus, and general improvements with the update that's proving elusive (tonight) to access. Its TimeFactor kin, on the other hand, is a class above, but is still battling for board position with the (IMHO) far more organic and musical sounding Subdecay Echo Box. Now there's a welcome stranger.
Members Dennis Rayburn
I've used mine on two gigs now and think its great. I love the tremolo and rotary, I think the phaser sounds are very good, I like the uni-vibe-ish phaser preset (that I tweaked) a lot. Those are the sounds I was looking for and the sounds I use. For someone who doesn't like chorus much, the chorus is fine for me. The sounds I used most on the gigs were: two different phasers, a tremolo, a rotary and a very mild chorus. I didn't start using the uni-vibe-phaser until last night and won't get a chance to try it live until Saturday. The only problems I have are relative volumes. The rotary sounds are a little louder than bypass and the phasers with more than two filter stages are a little softer. Other than the volume issues I really like it. Members CicadaSilence
I was curious if you guys could tell me what some of the modes do. What do the Undulator, PolyMod, and ModFilter modes do? I'm assuming one of them is a sample and hold? (oh please oh please ) I'm still on the fence about buying the Modfactor, but if you guys could help out, I'll probably pick one up.
Members gtrwiz
sample/hold is an option on most of the sounds. They took the Polymod off, apparently it was too big to fit in a pedal. Overall I'm starting to dig it more and more. I finally had an afternoon on Sunday to just sit and mess with it. I a/b'd it with my retrosonic phaser until I got it pretty damn close. I tweaked the univibe to have a bit more of a pulse/throb thing going on. And in a happy accident came up with a pretty cool octavia setting with the ring mod. definitely needs more tweaking than the TF, but I think the sounds are in there... Members mlabbee
I'm taking a fairly methodical approach to unlocking this box - I'm going to spend a few days on each algorithm to find settings I like. After some days just screwing aroudn with it randomly, I finally decided that there are some really good sounds to be had, but they will take some work to find. I finally got it to do a chorus that I like - shimmer, full depth at around .4 hz with feedback at around 3 pm and intensity between noon and full on. Curious to know what other MF owners think about that setting. Next up . . . phaser.
