Hi there! my first post in this forum.. well im not a pro guitar player.. however, im planning to buy my first and last multi-effects (hopefully) that has good sound quality..(usage: home,PC or live (small church)).. something that sounds natural.. not an obvious "processed" digital sound. i wont be using those fuzzy spaceship tones. my budget range are for the ff:

DIGITECH RP350,

ZOOM G2.1U,

BOSS ME-20,

KORG AX1500...

can you help me choose?... here's my other tone specs:

clean tone/chorus: sounds like "Creed"

delay : ..like "U2"

lead gtr dist/OD: steve lukather (toto), eric johnson, petrucci's glasgow kiss

Thanks in advance for the help!

Congrats on the first post.

I don't think any of them are going to meet your delay needs.

Cleans / chorus - probably any

Distortion / od - I would say Boss. I've never played any of them. However, I used to have an ME-6, ME-33, and GT-6. Some of the stuff was usable. I can't stand the Digitech multi effects. I know there was a guy selling the Zoom in the SPAM thread at the top. Maybe you can find a deal and save a couple bucks.

@Belt,

Thanks for the info.. actually im somewhat inclined to Boss because im currently using roland microcube amp, which has great built-in effects.. compared to my 35W ephiphone amp. & fender amp. i was able to use also Boss MT-2(Metal Zone) before.. very nice distortion. maybe its cheaper price yet good reviews of zoom that balance my scale & curiosity. OK, ill remove digitech from my shortlist.. compared with the two.. i often see negative comments on digitech. Thanks again!

I own a lot of fx pedals and rack fx, but I wanted one compact unit to grab and go for jams, rehearsals, etc. After trying a lot of them, I picked the Zoom G2.1u and I'm glad I did. It's a great sounding unit and is very user-friendly and easy to tweak.

Welcome to HCGuitar

I have big love for both the Digi 350 and the M-Audio BlackBox

What works the BEST is line out of either pedal to a neutral stereo powered set of speakers. Either studio monitors or something like a pair of Power-Stations from Tech 21

For the most part, muti-pedals sound like ass into a guitar amp

best of luck

i have the cheap rp 150 that don't sound cheap at all,i use it as a fx unit, reverb, chorus, dly,eq,ect.put dirt in front of it and it's a portable rig you can take anywere.direct into return fx of any amp and you've got tone that your able to tweak on the go awesomely easy edit.i don't care much for the high gain models but the fender and ac30 models sound pleasing not the real thing but pleasing.i like running my fav dirt into the fender twin model, pretty dam good for a $99.00 pedal.and it pumps out a +10db signal, not bad.imo

I've tried Zoom G2.1u on stage and the sound is acceptable. Can get noisy at high volume but can you can compensate with the Amp's level. With 96 kHz sampling , changing of patch/ effects are almost like stomp box. Delay is awesome.., this is where it shines. Can easily nail Incubus stuff.

Buy it.

Tnx Guys....today, i zoomed to zoom =) i tested G2.1u in nearby music store.. i dont know how to operate yet so i just used the presets.. it sounds nice... and i like the built-in rhythm... and the functionality of its pedal. However, a bigger brother,G7.1ut is there so i grabbed it...for more effects purposes..and out of curiousity also=) i just hope it's worth the decision & the price hehe.... well, sad thing is it has no preset rhythm patterns which is good to practice at..

The G7.1ut is a great pedal. You're going to regret not going whole hog for the G9.2tt, though ;) It has everything the G7.1ut does, plus some effects and amp&stomp models that are to die for.

But you'll get a LOT of use out of that bad boy, I promise. If you need any advice using it, go over to the forums at forum.thestompbox.net - in the Zoom section, I'm Agreed there too. I've written one FAQ on using it in a recording context, and others have written about how to utilize its functions effectively.

You'll notice a lot of us are pissed at the footswitch issue on older models. Don't worry about it, they've fixed it in the new ones... it's just us veteran G9.2tt owners blowing off steam. Every post referencing the problem says something like "But I just love how it sounds, which makes it even worse that it won't work right ".
