Can't go wrong with Sony MDR7506. I also like the Sennheiser HD280. The Sonys have a bit of a smiley face EQ. The Sennheisers are a bit flatter and have more isolation.

Sennheiser HD280's are amazing. I don't see myself using anything else. They're a bit exaggerated in the upper mids, but i've yet to hear a perfect set of headphones.

cool looks liek i'll try out the Sennheiser HD280's then, thanks guys

Yeah, you can't go wrong with either. One thing I forgot to add is that the 7506s are way smaller and thus more portable. The HD280s are fairly large and bulky. It may not matter to you, but I meant to add it earlier. :thu:

i vote you stay away from the sony's, i have a pair and they are great for monitoring/mixing/ect. but plugged right into an amp they sound like poo. I just use cheap pair of old headphones i had lying around that sound much better.

i think (my own un-scientific reasoning) is that most higher end headphones are supposed to cover all these "frequencies" that speakers tend to round off a bit and make more musical. cheap headphones don't really do a great job at getting everything to sound good so they kinda round things off in their own way.

my suggestion buy a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and borrow cheap headphones from everyone you know until you find the pair that sounds least bad.

I use the Sennheiser HD202s. They work just fine for what I need, $20 phones that have lasted me over a year so far.

I swear to god no matter what I do, I cannot tangle that cord that comes with it. It's incredible.
