Moog MF-104 users, what do you use in the loop?

Any luck with the phaser or ring mod? I'm thinking of maybe building a lovepedal Vibe clone...

Anyways, what are you using in the external loop?

Sort of related question: is there anyway I could build something that allows me to switch the said pedal from the external loop to into the pedal chain? Kind of bad english, but yeah. One click = in the external loop, second click = in the chain.

yeah i actually built a pedal to swap other pedals in and out of the loop; it has a green LED and red, red side anything in the loop is placed in it's normal position in the chain, green side that pedal(s) gets sent to the moog effects loop.

i thought about selling them, but it really only works with the moog, because the moog has that internal/external loop switch. if you want to build one, i think there's something similar on dano's site. you need a 4PDT switch which is kinda expensive.

i've tried a lot of stuff in there, but the best luck is modulation. dirt is really cool but the levels can get really crazy. univibe stuff sounds great, and phasers/swooshy stuff.

here's the link to that switcher:

unfortunately, the 4PDT footswitches aren't laid out like that, they're 6x2 but i'll post a pic of the wiring of you need it. that switch is more of a traditional toggle switch, which i'd honestly recommend over a footswitch because when you flick the pedals in and out of the loop/chain, the settings will need to be changed quite a bit so you're gonna be down there anyway.

Thanks! I'm gonna use your sparkle paint tutorial pretty soon too dude.

Anyways, with that pedal switcher, how would you wire it up? One loop goes to the moog, the other to the chain? Where does the I/O thing go? Aah!

i know it's confusing. here's an example chain:

guitar > wah > fuzz > Loop switcher > dirt > delay > amp

in the Loop switcher send/return 1 is one or more pedals; lets say flanger and vibe.

in mode 1, the chain goes:

guitar > wah > fuzz > flanger > vibe > dirt > delay > amp

in mode 2, the chain goes:

guitar > wah > fuzz > > dirt > delay (flanger and vibe in delay loop) > amp

the switcher removes the flanger and vibe from the spot in the middle, and places it in the loop; it also jumpers that spot so the signal is un-interrupted.

the only downsides are lots of cables, and that you'll probably need to adjust settings after you pop it in and out of the moog loop.

you could do it with relays if you cant source the switch

one caveat (used to have this situation with some of the older digitals with a regen FX loop like the Ibanez HD) I usually find setting up the process in the regen loop takes a bit of a light hand, so the settings good for there aint as good for just plain serial processing

you might just be happier having duplicate processors

Bump.

Looks like I got a good amount of grad money tonight, so I'm picking something up for the loop. Zygoat did a pretty awesome little sound with the lo-fi loop junky, but there's been a lot of talk about the moog ring mod. Any luck with the ring mod? Any other recommendations?
