Members MacBradley
I already have a DD-20 which I use for short delays, long ones, swells, and ambiet stuff like flange, chorus sounds, edtune sounds, ect. It has trails. -What I want is a delay without trails, preferably with some kind hold feature. I want to use it for exclusivley that actually. The kind of thing where you repeat a note really fast like a choppy studio effect, ala Bloc Pary, or repeating it then changing the rate, eg "Pistola" by Incubus. -I would prefer to keep it small. Not much or any bigger than standard BOSS size. -I would like to try and get something for $100 or less used, and have absolutely no problem buying something like a Behringer if it gets the job done. -I don't care about bypass, since it will go in the same loop of my looper as my WH-4, Bad Horsie wah, and BOSS PH-3, all of which already have {censored}ty bypass, hence the looper. ADVICE!!! GO!!!
Members bleepedybloops
I would say DD3 except you mentioned the Pistola solo, if you try to do that with the DD3 the pitch will change with the rate.

Lowest repeat the DD20 can do is 2 delays. The time knob is also not good for changing rate on the fly, it is too slow unless you push it in, in which case it doesn't change at a constant rate. Members GuitarSlim101
The Behringer DD400 could be what you want: The Hold feature is about 6 minutes in.
