okay, i understand theres been about 2 million old threads about this. but i just can't find the answer to my question/situation. i already own a line 6 dl4. i wanted to buy another one just for more presets and options. but ive been looking at the dd20, which is not at my local music store. :( ive heard some better things about it. but as far as delays go, are there any options it has that the dl4 does not? reliability and viewing what tempo you are at isn't a big deal for me. i treat my gear nicely, and the tap tempo on the dl4 does fine. do you need to bend down and use your finger to switch presets and tap tempos on the dd20? also, do you have to go through the presets 1,2,3,4? and not go from 1,4 right away etc? that could be a pain. but if these are some delays that the dd20 has that the dl4 doesnt, just so i can mix the two and such. ill def go for the dd20 just cause i already own a dl4. more natural sounding isnt a big deal either for me, since i can tweak my dl4 pretty nicely i believe.

the other guitarist in my band uses a dd-20 after his dl4 crapped out on him...not the issue here obviously.

an answer to some questions:

yes, you must scroll through the presets 1,2,3,4 to select the one you want. this may seem like a pain, but the right switch does this well and the left switch is the on/off for the pedal, so to speak.

there is no tap tempo installed...you can attach a switch for this feature though.

IMHO, the dd20 is better equipped for changing parameters within presets...this is not an answer to the "natural sounding" comment, just verifying you can make it sound as real or fake as you like.

lastly, one cool thing i found when piddling was that you actually have a 5th preset which is the where you don't have a preset selected, but the pedal is on...basically a "real-time" setting if you will.

both are great in their own way...if expense isn't a factor then i'd buy a truck load of dl4 just for {censored}s and giggles...if you're like me and $$$ is a factor, a dd20 is a good choice as well. AH, but isn't LIFE full of choices??? haha

is it easy to switch between presets on the dd20? and is it fast? i just dont want to be on stage taking forever to switch presets. ill probably go for something different if the delays arent that different!

Yeah, get a tap tempo footswitch so that way you can have both at the same time (the ability to set the tempo AND scroll through the settings).

its a never ending argument between these two.

buy the dd20 if you want 2 more delays... but it's not great for live use. kind of a pain to turn it on and switch between the presets, while the line 6 is much faster and easier.

if you dont experience the ole "volume drop" from the dl4, they both sound identical. the line 6 has more and cooler delays.
