Members Switchblade327
Well, basically what he ^^ said. The second hand muff which I recently came into doesn't have a working LED, which piqued my strictly amateur electronics side. Ive opened the thing, and have already met my first challenge: getting to the circut itself! The problem is nyah: Basically, because I can't take out the input and output jacks, can I not get direct access to the circutboard itself? How do I get around this? Will I be able to make some bitchin mods? Find out next post! Hopefully!
Members cantoXIII
just unscrew the outer nuts on the jacks, and the board will come loose [with wires still attached to pots, mind you]. the jacks are board mount, and the board is jack mount. go figure. Members Switchblade327
Whooo! Step one complete. I got a schematic sheet of the Muff, so now Im trying to find out why the LED went Awol. Am having a blast here, first pedal ive ever seen the insidies of! Got the diagram from here http://www.student.ru.nl/r.kerkhof/Taas/Mods/Big%20Muff.htm And am thinking of removing all the diodes, which is one of the suggestions. Anyone done this, and what's it like?
Members cantoXIII
congrats. i'd assume either replace the led, check for a burnt resistor or look for a loose connection. led's are simple, not many reasons why they wouldn't be working. good luck. Members Switchblade327
OKAY! diode seems to be fine and not in need of replacement. No burnt resistors, which must mean a loose connection, which seems the most probable. Will keep looking. Meanwhile, anyone feel free to pipe up with their own mods/advice, nothing is final on this baby, and I wanna hear from people!
Members Switchblade327
Just wanted to bump to say that although I couldn't fix the LED issue, I took out the diodes, for a rather interesting change. Am I just not looking hard enough, because i cant see anything really wrong. What do I need to look for?
