Looooots of choices. The clips I've heard of the Menatone Red Snapper sounded really open and chewy, they're really nice. The Xotic Effects stuff would work really good, as well.

What kind of sound are you going for?

Honestly, I am trying to get close to the sound of the 800 on the high channel when its cranked... Obviously it would be nice to just crank up the amp but in the real world, im not ALWAYS playing distorted... So yeah, I need a pedal that sounds as nice as a JCM 800 lol

I'm assuming volume is a consideration?

If so, then I've found the BoR to work great with my JMP. As far as considerations of it not having enough gain, I find that it takes boosts really well.

If not, then I'd go for a clean boost rather than trying to get a pedal that sounds exactly like your amp at 10. You could also crank your amp and have a pedal that acted like a reverse boost (cut?) for cleaner moments. To make it variable, you could use a good volume pedal, or you could even just get really ninja-like with the volume on the guitar itself.

Basically, there are probably a ton of ways to do what you want. It's really a question of what makes the most sense to you.

I've used a JCM800 for years now and have approached overdrive in different ways. I'm playing old skool metal at the moment and crank it up on the high input and then hit the front of it with a tubescreamer, you can also use a DOD YJM308, SD-1, HBE powerscreamer, MXR ZW44 or probably any other low-gain transparent-ish bluesly drive. If you really want to go "Chugga-Chugga" then something with strong mids is essential.

If you want a cranked up JCM800 in a box then try an old Marshall Shreadmaster (the jackhammer may work as well) into the low input/clean setting. I've also used a HBE Big D and a SPF Red Threat to good effect this way plus an Exar Kamakazie for brewtalz metalz!

For classic rock just crank the amp up on the high input and roll of your guitar volume for cleaner stuff.

I've found that a THD Hotplate is essential to get any good tone out of a JCM800 when cranking it up on the high input. I'm talking about gigging situations as well, not just using it in you bedroom. Infact you can't get a JCM800 to sound good at bedroom levels even with an attenuator!

Hope this helps.

:blah:
