Pedal train users: Do you all use velcro?

I think the PT Velcro is very strong.

Na, I'm with joems on this one. I found the PT Velcro to be very weak. Even transporting the pedal to practice caused them to come away from the board.

Getting some industrial strength Velcro did the trick though. Now I have to fight to get a pedal off.

I use velcro, but need to reattach it to pedals more often than I'd like to. Since my gear gets hauled and stuff in cold weather it often equates to velcro losing it's glue on the back.

This is exactly why I don't like velcro. My stuff is getting carted around constantly, and often I have to leave my house at 6 AM, so I put stuff in their the night before. The velcro does not like cold weather.

Industrial strength Velcro. I don't think you can get any stronger than this. You'll have to pull really hard to lift your pedals off (notice I avoided any form of "get off").
Just get it at Wal-Mart or Lowes. That way, you're getting the strongest you can get and you're not paying extra for a re-branded kind.

I went to a local fabric store and bought some velcro for my board. I can pick up my board by the pedals. It's pretty nifty.

figure if your gonna spend 1000+ for all the pedals and the what not you might as well spend 20 bucks for the good {censored}.

I had trouble with velcro holding down pedals on my board. I decided to get a piece of pegboard and paint it black, zip-tie my pedals to the board, and use large pieces of velcro on the pegboard. Works perfectly.

velcro is still the best in my mind. I can easily do a board rearrange when ever i want to create new tones and combinations!!

Use velcro, but use krazy glue to apply it to your board and pedals. This takes care of all the problems cited about the velcro being stronger than the adhesive. You dont need much velcro on the bottom of your pedals either if you get good velcro. Ive bought some really ridiculous looking pedals bottoms from people on these forums. With correct placement (read small strip on tope and bottom) you dont need to put huge 3 in by 3 in squares and rectangles on your pedals.

Go to any "hobby lobby", "michael's " or other crafts store or hardware stores for GOOD moderately priced velcro.

The drilling thing would be great for a touring board, but for my weekend warrior mentality, i prefer not to drill up my pedal board.

There are a few tricks to using velcro successfully.

First: clean the surfaces with alcohol before applying the velcro.

Second: cover the entire floorboard with velcro. For the PT, its easy to just lay down strips across the bars end to end.

Third: Don't use industrial strength velcro. The velcro hooks are stronger, but the "glue" is the same as regular strength velcro. The glue is the weak point, not the velcro.

Fourth: Don't cover your pedals in velcro. The whole bottom doesn't need to be covered. Just put two 1/2 width strips at either end and it's plenty for the pedals to remain stuck to the board without giving yourself a hernia to get them off.

Fifth: If a pedal is stuck, slide a spatula between the velcro and it will come off easy. Don't pull or twist the pedal too hard as you'll just peel the glue off and have a big mess.

If your pedals are already covered, use a lighter to burn off extra hooks.
