Members arcadesonfire
i mean i wanted two delays to run in series, but the timefactor can do that parallel, there a few delays the dl4 has the timefactor doesnt, is the timefactor easy to switch between banks? thats my only concern! and is it totally badass? i've never owned a DL4, but i've played with one a few times, and sound quality wise, the timefactor is much more badass. As for bank switching, you can only go up with the banks. So if you're on patch 2:1 and you want to get to 1:2, you've got to stomp through a number of banks.HOWEVER! with the latest software version, you can set the number of banks you have to click through. So if you're only using 6 patches live, then you can set it to only have 3 "active" banks, so you've only got to click a little bit to get from bank 2 back to bank 1.As for delays, the biggest issue with the timefactor right now is the looper. many people still consider it useless because it can't do a seemless loop (there's always a volume drop in between one iteration of the loop and the next) and the loops are often shortened from the time that you had tapped in, ugg...Eventide is working to get the looper up to par, but at the moment, it's troubling.Soooooo... i can't definitively answer your question... sorry... but hopefully someone who has had both pedals can offer some further insight. Members pbone
The DL4 is cheaper. That's the only reason I can really think. Unless you REALLY want reverse loops.
Members Barnabyhuggins
The Timefactor dwarfs the DL-4. First, it sounds 20x better. Second, they thought of everything you would want and threw it in. Plus, with firmware updates they'll continue to think of more. The looper is certainly good and usable. The amount of creativity you can pull out of yourself via a Timefactor is astounding. The DL-4 is a joke when compared on this level. PLUS: it doesn't break every 2 months. That's your reason right there. The DL4's looper might not be the best in the market, but it's good enough and if you already have it and don't need the sale money, go ahead and keep it as a looper. That's probably what i'll do when I get myself a timefactor.
Members AndyVengeance
can the loopers be saved in the banks as well? and is it easy to switch from delays to the looper?
Members Meriphew
I have an Eventide Timefactor, Line6 DL4, and a Diamond Memory Lane on my pedalboard. The DL4 gets sounds that the Timefactor doesn't and vise versa. I've had my DL4 for aprox 5 years and have never had any issues/problems with it. It will remain on my pedalboard. Members AndyVengeance
i just really want to keep my dl4 around for some reason. but also want the eventide. though the eventide is just going to kill my budget what delays does the dl4 have that the eventide doesnt? Members Meriphew
what delays does the dl4 have that the eventide doesnt? They overlap in some of the same delay type categories, but just have a different sound from each other.
