Members opultaM Posted April 25, 2008 Members Posted April 25, 2008 I have a little box that I use for tap tempo. It works fine but it's a very hard click. Not so perfect for lots of tapping. First, could I easily switch that out for one that doesn't click? I never done any pedal work, but m sister has and can help me out. Second, what would I need, something like this?http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=26 Thanks y'all
Members dap99 Posted April 25, 2008 Members Posted April 25, 2008 It's a piece of cake. Get This Switch instead I don't know about that other one, but this one is what I use in my TTT builds b/c BOSS pedals require a NC switch and w/ the FS I linked you can choose how you wire it. It's easy and I'll help ya if you need it.
Members mueller Posted April 25, 2008 Members Posted April 25, 2008 this is what i used for my tap tempo for my dd20http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=672 it's just like the switch on the whammy iv if youve ever used one

I think I bought a few of those switches and I noticed that if I pressed it down once, waited a second and pressed it down again, the tempo did not change until I released the switch. I think that switch is a Normally Open switch. Then I got a few of the ones I put in my link and tried wiring each lug to the middle lug. I think that lug 2 and 3 act as Normally Closed. When wired that way, the tempo changes immediately when you press down on it the second time. Just a heads up to the OP.

My gameplan was to look at how it's wired to the switch that's in there now and try to replicate that. If that sounds stupid let me know. Dap you may be getting a pm from me if i find myself covered in stupid.
Members dap99 Posted April 25, 2008 Members Posted April 25, 2008 It's really simple. I haven't made one in a week or so, but I'm pretty sure you use the lug closest to you (#3) and the center lug - based on the pic below. You just wire the Tip of the jack to one of them and the Sleeve to the other one. It doesn't matter which! Easy Breezy. But it that stupid comes about, shoot me a PM

Members mueller Posted April 25, 2008 Members Posted April 25, 2008 i think it has to do with me playing piano before i ever played guitar...something about releasing the sustain pedal...
Members opultaM Posted April 25, 2008 Author Members Posted April 25, 2008 i think it has to do with me playing piano before i ever played guitar...something about releasing the sustain pedal... hmm that ACTuALLY sort of makes sense. However I played piano first as well and I don't suffer from the same...DISEASE... It's kinda cool to think of the piano as the first instrument to use effects pedals. 3 onboard effects! Imagine if it was an arpegiator instead of a sustain pedal
