Members Kassanova
+1 on the Tube ZoneAlso the Damage Control Solid Metal pedal can get close; especially if you switch out the tubes for Tsung Sol tubes. If you're not opposed to amp sims, the Zoom G2.1 has great rectifier sims. Members Kassanova
I've had people tell me that the Mesa V-Twin doesn't nail the high gain modern Rec sounds that well. Its more of a vintage rec sounding pedal.

Members ppmcgee33
Yea the Mark Series tone is what I was thinking of. Someone suggested the Tech21 Double Drive. Anyone have experience with that pedal? BTW, thanks for all the responses, they're very helpful.

Members panther_king
For as much as you could buy a V-twin for, or similar tube driven pedal, youy could probably BUY a mesa amp you know. On Ebay: V-Twin Mesa, .50 cal+ Mk IIA Mk IIc+ Mk III Just sayin... all the combo's have speak outs for cabs, and you could always pull the guts and rockmount 'em

Even though I really like my Tube Zone pedal, I must admit that my Zoom G7.1ut MFX gets a lot closer to a Rectifier than my Tube Zone. A used one should run under $200 easily plus you get a lot of other effects.
Members bradberry00
I agree that in paying too much you should probably just get the amp you want, but the MarkII/MarkIII amps shown will go for 2-3X more then the $600 they're at now... Members GodBlessTexas
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get a full, mesa (Mark series) type distortion in a pedal with my les paul and Epiphone valve jr? Which one? Each Mark Series sounds pretty different, and there are pretty distinct versions of some of the Mark series, namely the Mark II and Mark III series. Members El Grinder
http://olcircuits.com/olc_slowcentury.html? I'm surprised.. The first (scooped) clip sounds fairly similar to the rectifier mode on my Triaxis.. nice & muddy, like an unboosted recto should be! Other than that, I wonder how the voicing on the Mesa/Boogie Bottle Rocket and V-Twin pedals would fare when looking for a Mark series tone. Tech 21 is an option as their Sansamp preamp can give some nice Triaxis-like sounds, which were, in turn, based on the Mark series.
Members GodBlessTexas
If you want Mesa Mark tones, I'd say get a Mesa Quad preamp, which has 2 channels. Channel 1 is based on the Mark IIC, and Channel 2 is based on the Mark III. I love mine. A more expensive option would be a Mesa Triaxis, which has the voicings of the Mark I, Mark IIC+, Mark IV, and Rectifier.
