Members Headlow
Does anyone use one of these........ http://www.ampstandback.com/ I'm in the market for an amp stand, and my accident stumbled across these on the web. The fact that it's so portable appeals to me greatly. However I have heard (and read) that they may cause certain amps to overheat more than they usually would....not sure of the reasons, it went way over my head. I did email the company and ask about the overheating, and if it would affect my Vox, and they replied saying that they were not aware of any such problems. I just thought I'd ask here to see if anyone could enlighten me further.
Members Lanefair
I play an open back combo and the spread of sound is fine. I just put it on a chair or a table. I suppose these things are important if you leave your amp on the floor.
Members melx
I almost bought one of those a while back (I still might) my ears are pretty bad so unless my amp is up level with my head I can't hear it so well. I can see any problems with it making the amp overheat, why would it? just don't put it up against a wall.
Members Vince
I can't see any reason at all why that would cause the amp to overheat. You're blocking up maybe a 1 inch wide strip at the back? Not going to make much difference if you ask me. If it really concerns you, point a fan at the back of your amp (and not the screaming, knicker throwing variety either, although that might have it's own benefits but that's another thread entirely). Members jake.lind
I use an amp stand, and it works great. It basically allows you to be louder because the amp is being pointed at ears instead of at ankles. I really dig it.

Members T3
i think the objection might be that the heat will kind of pocket inside the combo, in the top corner, i can't actually see that being a problem however. combos get warm, tilting them shouldn't make that any worse, fenders have had the kickback legs for years...
