NEW AMP DAY: My 50 watts can do ANYTHING!

Got a killer deal on my new Randall RM50. I can't wait to get new modules for it!

Been looking into the whole line a few weeks since I learned about the swappable tube modules, but no place in the whole city sells them. Turns out my local shop ordered a few under my nose when they came out, and couldn't sell them, so they kept them buried in the back. When I asked about them, they said "Dear god, TAKE IT!"

So I got my new Rm50 combo, loaded with the Blackface (heaven) and Modern (meh) modules, for $600. I'm pretty pumped. It's sad they couldn't get rid of them, but I imagine alot of people equate randalls with solid state brootalz, and they just don't have the demand of the average player like a Mesa or Marshall would.

Anyways; Anybody have some modules for sale or trade? Looking specifically for the XTC, or KH-3... might be interested in the 1086 and Top Boost for the heck of it. I'm just not a huge fan of the Modern module I got; sounds good, just not my thing.

PICS!

Just a heads up, I used to jam with a band that had the head version of that amp with a Mesa 2x12 for me to use, plugged in the Top Boost module one day to see how Vox-y it would be. I would highly suggest not getting that module, disgusting. There's a new one out called the Super V that looks to be a better version of the Top Boost. I'd try that one out.

He had a big bag full of modules in little rackmount-like things, I tried a few and dug the SL+, Blackface and Tweed ones the best.

Let us know how good all the moduales end up sounding when you try em out :thu:

I'm intreguied (sp?) by the idea of swapping different sounds depending on what music your playing at the time, but I kinda fear they will all sound a little bleh overall. None to try out around here either, AFAIK

Yeah, the Super V is one of the George Lynch signature modules. I'll have to look into it. I'm really jonesing for the XTC... every clip I've heard of it, on a variety of settings, sounds great! I'll add the SL+ to the list though.

I finally dialed in the "modern" gain module I got with the amp... it's usable now; the Blackface is just beautiful though. I'll go on the record saying if you have this amp without the Blackface module, you're missing out. And TONS of reverb on the tank in the loop on it. Ends up being alot of pre-amp tubes though (6 on a 50 watter... never had an amp with more than 5). Gonna have to see what combos work best in what modules :thu:

I guess it's Egnater that designed that? He's got a module-based model (a few actually) of his own now, there are some clips floating around the interwebz. The AC30 sounded pretty good to me.

Yeah, if you look on the back panel pic, it says "designed by Egnater" :p
