Members aschreiber2010
O.K. so i have been looking into getting a noise supressor pedal and with so many options out there i'm not sure which one to get. I have been looking at the Boss ns-2, the MXR Smart Gate, the Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger, the ISP Decimator, and the Rocktron HUSH (mostly for price). I was wondering if anyone knew which would work the best for t he money. Any feedback woul be great (even though that's what i'm tring to get rid of). Thanks! Members bvester
If you really want quality, ISP is definitely worth it - I didn't think noise suppressors could be so different until I swapped my NS-2 for one. Never going back. On the other hand, you could get by with most of those if you just want to eliminate feedback, but they won't all be as effective, in my opinion, as the ISP in keeping your tone intact and getting rid of lower frequency hum and buzzing. Members stigmataguitar
I have an MXR Smartgate and it's a great noisegate but not necessarily a great noise supressor. When you are not playing it cuts/gates the noise off really well but when you play it opens the gate and any noise that was there before engaging the pedal is still there and will be heard. I had thought about the EH Hum Debugger but there are way too many reviews stating that it colors your tone too much and has a weird clipping thing when used with distortion. Our other guitarist has an ISP Decimator and I think it's great...so great that I just ordered one for myself. IMO stay away from the HUSH pedal....I just tried one out the other day it sucked tone from my signal like a cheap whore sucking a golfball through a garden hose!
