Can you make the Tuna Melt even choppier?

Howdy, all. Just got my rehoused Tuna Melt back from Bodenhamer and it's great. I'm using it conjunction w/ a 2nd trem, however, and it would be great if I could get it even choppier.

Does anyone know if there's a component that I can change in order to increase the "choppiness" of the trem effect? Maybe a different value for the Depth pot?

Making the tuna melt choppier and slower is easy. You just sell it and pick up the Behringer UT100. Trust me, you'll be much happier.

I've seen you parading the UT100 as > the Tuna Melt. Care to give a in-depth review/comparison? I have one in the mail and I almost snagged a Tuna Melt.

Sorry to jack the thread, Viper.

how can it get choppier than the 'hard' mode? i guess i don't get it
:idk:

iirc, you can't modulate the depth when it's on the hard setting. It's just one setting. There may be a mod for it, but i haven't tried. Basically get the LED to be brighter or amp up the gain and stay on the square wave mode

Sorry to jack the thread, Viper.

I almost didn't get the UT100 because I found all these great reviews for the Tuna Melt after I had already ordered it, but the guy was going to charge me re-stocking and re-listing fees to cancel the order so I just said screw it and got it.

To my surprise... I fell in love with it almost instantaneously. The triangle to square wave knob, intensity and speed control all have a great range. It has a very slight volume drop, but I don't even notice it if I'm not listening for it. It has a great range from extremely slow and barely audible to choppy and digital fast. It's only drawback might be that it's digital, but I picked up a Voodoo Lab Tremolo for the photocell sound so now I keep the UT100 as a digital trem. It's high speed range is greater than that of the Voodoo Lab's and lately I've been playing with it turned up as fast as it can go (or about as fast as you can roll your tongue). It's just a lot of fun and it's made me a huge tremolo fan.

However, people on this forum talk about the Tuna Melt so much I had to try it. So I got one and played it side by side with the UT100. Maxed out in "Hard" mode, the Tuna Melt is about 1/8 of the UT 100 can do. And, to me, the "Soft" mode on the Tuna Melt is barely audible at all. I literally had it on my board for about five minutes and decided I was going to sell it and keep the UT100. Dollar for dollar, the UT100 is just 100x's more bang for the buck than the Tuna Melt. Trust me, you're really going to like playing with it. Congrats on the score! :thu:

I know. I thought Danelectro and then mod and your name popped in my head. I guess I figured if you'd poked around with one, you could figure it out pretty quickly.

I've modded the Spring King, Daddy-O & Fab Distortion, so guess that makes sense. I used to own a Tuna Melt. Never poked around the insides, but it was a cool pedal.

I actually thought I screwed up his pedal after the rehouse and spent a good amount of time trying to figure out why the depth knob wasn't making any difference  THEN I looked at the schematic and noticed that when switched to hard mode the depth knob is completely bypassed :cop:
