Members TonyBluesman
I'm looking for a reverb pedal to go with my Fender Pro Junior and Keeley TS-808. I only play slow blues stuff so I'm not too interested in wierd reverb sounds just mellow thick bluesy sounds.I'm not an expert player so not really sure what type of reverb will sound best with what I play e.g. spring/plate/room etc. After reading all the reviews I have landed on the Tech 21 Boost RVB or Lee Jackson's Mr Springgy. Both pedals get good reviews (almost too good for Mr Spinggy).Mr Springgy has a fixed reverb sound with one knob to vary the amount of reverb - the Boost RVB has many settings.I'm in the UK so can try the Boost but not Mr Springgy.I like the idea of being able to adjust the tone etc but at the same time I don't want to get 'lost' in the settings on the Boost. On the other hand, if I don't like the Mr Springgy sound I'm stuck with it.I've listened to some sound samples (can't find any for Boost rvb on youtube) but they don't help much.Any advice/thoughts wellcome - thanks for taking the time to read this.TonyPS for various reasons I have decided against Holy Grail/Marshall RF1/Verbzilla/Gigiverb/Boss RV range. Members JVanDe7
Hmm, I am caught in a similar predicament right now. I am very close to pulling the trigger on the Mr Springgy, because I prefer analog/organic/musical effects versus their digital counterpart. But like you mentioned, Mr Springgy has only one knob, and even though I like that, I can't help but wonder if I would find myself wanting more knobs to tweak a la the Verbzilla or Tech21 RVB. Then I think I just want to wait and save a bit more and get the VanAmps Reverbamate... SO, anyone used Mr Springgy? My real question I guess, is can Mr Springgy get A WHOLE LOT of reverb when it is cranked? Or is it just mellow subtle reverb only?

I bought Mr Springgy (terrible name e.g. I've just been playing with Mr Springgy!!!), Anyway, I decided that every time I tried a reverb pedal I ended up using the "63/65 reverb" or equivalent - never found the various other reverbs added anything - and whenever I get a pedal with more than 2 knobs I spend all my time fiddling with the pedal instead of playing, so, I let Lee Jackson choose the settings. You can get a fair bit of reverb with the wet/dry mix knob (much more than just a hint) and there is an internal pot to change the amount of reverb sound into the mix. I'm happy with it. Members willburford
Well, I was going to recommend the tech 21 because you can crank the reverb and still not get a volume drop because of the level control, but since you don't need that I was going to say the other one. ^Which looks like what you picked. Glad you like it!

Members Philly Fuzz
I'm happy with it. And the great thing is that if you change your mind or later on want something different, post the Mr. Springgy in the spam thread and someone here will surely buy it! There's a home for every pedal around these parts... The demo clips for the Mr. Springgy sound really really nice. And, personally, I prefer simple pedals, so one knob seems great to me. Glad you like it!

I certainly will let you all know what I think. I'll probably order on Mon/Tue and word on the street is that Lee Jackson ships fast so it shant be long. Sorry, too much solder fumes... Members cloudscapes
I understand the want for a real simple pedal, but one knob is kind of pushing it imo. being digital the tech21 sounds very nice and organic! there are a lot of knobs, but they'll allow you to dial in your exact sound even if you arent into phychadelic reverb! Members Uma Floresta
Well, listening to clips on the Lee Jackson site, it does sound nice. I'm not sure it sounds better than the Verbzilla's 63 Spring setting though. It's hard to tell without a more wet reverb setting.
Members JVanDe7
Well I have seen nothing but RAVE reviews about the MR Springgy. All 10's on HC user reviews and many great testimonials on the Lee Jackson page. Besides the one knob, let's not forget that this pedal has 2 (stereo) outs and a dry out. May come in handy. And have you heard those sound clips? He A/B's with a classic Fender and makes you try to guess which one is which- and you simply can't tell the difference. All the NAMM info I dug up was all A+'s and 10's too. I'd prefer one incredible spring reverb unit to a decent sounding Verbzilla with a lot of other decent sounding options. I would really only end up using the spring settings anyhow.

Again, I'd need to hear it really cranked to have a more informed opinion.

Actually I would really like to hear a clip with the lowest and highest reverb settings to get an idea of how much range the one knob gives. Please... My mike is not very sensitive (it's a Samson USB Dynamic) so I'm not sure this is a fair representation. I played slowly so you can hear the sound better. starts pedal off - then on about half way - then on full. Next, chords and lead (Clapton's Old Love) no reverb then just enough to warm things up. Hope this helps but, as I say, the mike does not pick up the reverb as well as I hoped it would. Cheers Tony

Members JVanDe7
Yeah, sounds good to me. I dig the range of reverb. Very natural/organic sounding too. I think I'm sold. Even if I don't end up keeping it I'm sure someone here would give me a reasonable amount of dough for it.

Members JVanDe7
I got the Mr Springgy and I love it! It basically sounds like the best built-in amp reverb you've ever heard. Well worth the $200 IMO. Single knob takes you from completely dry signal to large-hall-type reverb when maxed. Very analog organic authentic sounding. This is what you get when you have a cool amp that happens to NOT have reverb and you don't want to half-ass it with a holy grail or verbzilla. I'd like to just get the Fulltone reverb unit but this is a great much more affordable alternative.

Members JVanDe7
No way man, you should never feel guilty for telling someone you like or dislike a certain pedal. I am ultimately the one who decides to buy it or not. Damn, my {censored}ing computer is typing all Doogy Howser style right now. For those that arent old enough to know, that's when you type something and 20 seconds later it appears on your screen, one letter at a time. Members MPH
These Mr Springgy's sound great. One knob and very simple, just like me. Now the serious bit... Question for uk buyers :- Are Mr Springgy's available in the uk, or would i have to buy direct from USA? If so, what sort of import duty i am liable to be charged, if any? I bought mine from Lee's ebay shop or you can just look on ebay - come in black and gold.http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Lee-Jackson-Metaltronix-AmplifiersIt took about 10 days and I wasn't charged any duty or vat. Lee sent me a USPS tracking number and it was delivered by Royal Mail here in the UK.Hope this helps - Tony
