Members Crxsh Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 So... thanks to the discontinuation of this pedal and the resulting hyper-inflated prices people can charge for them, I've considered offing mine on several occasions. Most recently, I put it up in the SPAM thread after overthinking my rig for awhile and considering a (a-nother) complete shakeup. I got a number of offers and among them, entertained everything from a classic DMM, to a REALLY nice tele and $350 cash.... $350 cash .... this is ridiculous. So I go home today, just as I've done before, and tell myself that I'm going to play it one more time just to be sure I can do without it. I plug it in, add a touch of delay and .... WHOA MAMA!!! This pedal kills. The money has got me batty. I'd love to sell this off and cash in on the under-saturated, over-hyped market .... but I just love how it sounds. It's frustrating. Muff clone or not, this is a brilliant pedal. Anyone else torn between the money and the awesome tones?
Members attic Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Anyone else torn between the money and the awesome tones? Give it to me, and I could tell you. :poke:
Members rileykill Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 I can't believe you aren't gonna sell it ...
Members SharkMinusBear Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Money is the most common and easily replaceable resource on the planet. Good tone is hard to come by.
Members zygoat Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 I know I'm going to be in the same situation when my Lunar Module gets here, and if it gets discontinued down the line.
Members HeartfeltDawn Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Sell it. I borrowed one from a forumite and it didn't blow me away like my Screwdriver did. Sell sell sell sell.

Members Crxsh Posted May 6, 2008 Author Members Posted May 6, 2008 Someone near Indiana wanna lend me a Big Muff so I can A/B these?
Members Alchemist Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Money is the most common and easily replaceable resource on the planet. Good tone is hard to come by. so many pedals out there that sound equally good.... kinda hard to get really bad tone unless you just buy the cheapest things out there these days.. take advantage of the hype.... sooner or later something else will come along that people will go crazy over and your pedal along with all its hype will be tossed aside (well not tossed aside, just not as popular) I sold both of my Gibson guitars for the same, or more money than I payd.... no regrets, good guitars, just not perfect for my needs.... took advantage of the money and got something better suited for me...
Members SharkMinusBear Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 IF you have a job but anyway, i think it's replaceable by the many muff alternatives out there. Sell it when it's still hot. I agree, but I don't think it's worth selling if you enjoy playing it and you like it every time you use it. If you don't have a job then I'd understand... but it's easy to make a lot of cash from normal jobs like bartending etc.
Members friendlybunny Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Yes... I know what you mean. I have an Ernie... I don't know what it is worth, but it is priceless to me.
Members Loobster Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Get a Earthquaker Hoof. Much better, much cheaper.

So.... money isn't a problem, at least ... it's not like I need the cash. It's just the idea of selling it. I'm QUITE pleased with how it sounds ... no complaints really. That said, I can get a good deal more than I paid for it ... so that's always appealing.
Members dap99 Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Someone near Indiana wanna lend me a Big Muff so I can A/B these? I have a BYOC muff that's modded w/ the 3 pos switch for Flat Mids, Scooped Mids, and Boosted Mids. I'll swap for a while for one of your pedals if you want.
Members Crxsh Posted May 6, 2008 Author Members Posted May 6, 2008 Get a Earthquaker Hoof. Much better, much cheaper. I just watched this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3509910865647991093 Sounds more like a ? Lady.
Members Loobster Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 Sounds like a good offer. Someone needs to do an ultimate muff shootout video. I'm gonna AB a NYC Muff with my Hoof, when it arrives. I got rid of my Pink Flesh, wasn't really that blown away by it. The MG McMufflefuzz (or whatever it's called) is without doubt the nicest sounding muff I've ever played. It looks like a packet of fries from MaccyD's too.
Members NITEFLY182 Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 I see no reason to sell just because its an expensive pedal. You like it. You dont need the cash. Dont sell. All these jokers telling you to sell are either vultures or skreddy haters. Everyone that has sold a skreddy has mentioned regretting it. Dont do it.

I sold mine and if it weren't for the kickass amp it helped me buy I would regret it.
Members NITEFLY182 Posted May 6, 2008 Members Posted May 6, 2008 {censored} now I want a screwdriver. And pbone - youre young and fickle and thats not a bad thing in many senses. Thats how I found my favorite tones a long time ago. Just play till you find something that clicks.
