how much is the train ride gonna cost? i'd buy it, if you hate it you can sell it on ebay and prob turn a little bit of a profit. if you like it then you own what half the analog delays out there are trying to imitate.

besides, if people don't buy things how is stuff gonna be sold?

Bump.

How about the sound of the DM-3? I'm after quite clean and thick sounding short delays and apparently the DM-3 is looses out in that department compared to the DM-2 and (an original) Ibanez AD9. How true is this and how do the reissues of the AD9 compare to the originals?

And as mentioned, it's waaay out of my price range (it's cheaper than I thought at about

I had a DM-3. Sounded real good. But the short delay times didn't cut it for me. But since your looking for slapback stuff and short delays it might just be your best buy ever. The only thing the Maxons have on the DM-3 are the longer delay times. They really don't sound any better or something. I'd go for it in your position.

less thick (i had 5 dm3's so maybe i have a slight idea of what im talking about:)) andmaybe more harmonics. I find the pedalmore inspiring than a dm2, if that makes sense. go tomy so young link and listen to DIRTYDIRTYSEX. Thats the dm3...

I'm not so sure now. I read this on another forum:

"The DM-3 would be a great choice. Its more pristine than the DM-2 (which has darker repeats) but its still warmer than a digital delay. Its like the missing link between all those dark DM-2 analog clones out there (Aqua Puss, AR20DL, etc) and those pristine Digital Delays. Which makes it brilliant for slapback."

From that summary it sounds similar to my Red Repeat.

How does that Maxon AD999 sound compare to the DM-3, seifukusha?

that's a good price if its in really good condition.

i should probably keep my mouth shut, but i just got a DOD FX90 and it outshines the DM-2 (2nd version) i had recently in most ways. sound, tweakability, delay time.. i would buy 3 or more old DOD analog delays over one DM-2 or DM-3 for the same price.

go for it. It's a great pedal and will do slapback very easily.

It's not whether it will or not, it's how it sounds. I guess with delay you only get out what you put in (maybe that maxon tone is due to the guitar and amp?) but even saying that, I've read so many posts here about 'thin' sounding digital delays. And there's never been much actual description with regards to analogue delays other than 'warm', which doesn't really mean much. Having played about with my RR a little bit today, it sounds 'warm' but there's something about it still lacking somehow. It's not really as rich or as 'echoey' as I'd like.

Anyway, as usual, I'm rambling, I might just go for the DM-3 and sell it on if I'm not keen.

I phoned to double-check and it turns out it's a DD-3. Even though I emailed AND phoned him a while ago and he stated it was a DM-3.

that sucks, and is NOT a good price for a dd-3. Maybe it is a dm-3 and he just got cold feet and wants to keep it. That's ridiculous though.
