Members Zachman
Any recommendations for a rack that would fit my TC G-major unit? IF you will be carting it yourself in your own vehicle, just about anything will do. IF you will be carting it in a band equipment trailer or something of it's equivalent then an ATA rated Shock rack is highly recommended. Carvin actually makes some affordable racks, so does OSP. Members sideshowlinc
it will just be me, and it would just be the one unit, so i'm only after something small.

I have a friend that is selling a 4 space OSP rack for $99, so I know that you can find them out there. Check ebay for OSP

Members SUPER VELCROBOY
what do you guys think of the sbk rack with the telescoping handle and wheels? it is a good idea in concept, but in practice it sucks because they skimp on too many things. ... no back rack rails, cheap aluminum, cheap plastic shell, the back opening is tiny and is hard to work through. The depth of the rack case is longer then it should be. The wheel is an excellent idea however.
Members IvIark
Gator do a range of shallow racks which are great because they've obviously got a smaller footprint. I think you can get them in 2, 4 or 6U
Members Zachman
what do you guys think of the sbk rack with the telescoping handle and wheels? That would be a huge NEGATIVE, because the amount of vibrations that transfer to your equipment while rolling over bumps, gravel etc... as happens while moving gear through parking lots, is BAD. Members sideshowlinc
would you recommend the Gator GR-2S Shallow Rack Case?
Members IvIark
I would. I've had the 6U version for about 4 years now and it's been ideal for me.
Members Zachman
would you recommend the Gator GR-2S Shallow Rack Case? Well... my concern, if I were using it for myself, is that I could carry the rack case, because the TC G-Major isn't be sturdiest piece of gear ever produced, and I don't like the idea of the bouncing around of the components when being rolled on a dolly or something similar, especially if it's not in a shock rack. Members Zachman
so this case wouldnt be good? i need something with more protection? It's a personal judgment call. My philosophy re: my gear is, I've spent a lot of time and money to get the gear I want, and put it together into a rig, and I am not willing to settle for leaving it unprotected in my car with the doors unlocked and the windows down, so why would I NOT protect it with the most protective rack I could get.... Granted, my rig is not likely to just up and walk away and have any would be thief looking very subtle. It sort of is it's own anti-theft deterrent. My old bass player had an SKB rack with his Eden bass rig, and goodies in it and we used to drive to Vegas and Palm Springs etc... to play from southern California. Well, the gear used to go in the band equipment trailer, and one time we got to the gig and when we went to unload the gear, the metal frame that outlines the plastic body of the SKB rack, was TOTALLY undone and his gear was smashed. NOT going to happen to me, IF I can help it. So, that is the nature of my concern, and level of caution.
