This may have been more suited in the guitar-forum but I was afraid they might kill me with their pointy guitars...or maybe that's the amp forum?

Oh anyway. What Gretsch guitar is being played in this video? linky

I'm GASing for a semi/full-hollow and that does look like a nice guitar, and he sure does get some nice sounds out of it

Couldn't really find a 100% match on their website.

Oh maybe you're right. I just assumed it was since it looked like one.

Okay so then it's even harder. What guitar is it?

no idea but he's put a gretsch trem/tail piece on it.

So it's some sort of gene-modified guitar then?

Too bad. I had hoped for something in the same ballpark as the Casino or my wallet will hurt. Well, if the guitar is actually good enough to make me want it more than the Casino that is.

ah, it's a late '60s Martin GT model 75, with a tapered headstock...pretty rare guitar.

coolness!

btw, the knobs on those things only go to 9!
:freak:

There we have it! Didn't know they would have such a nice taste in gear. It does look really nice.

He's not playing some cheap clone or something, no? If those even exist.

have you seen the new gretsch electromatic double cut in walnut?

Wow :love::love:

I had been looking at the G5120. That sounds like an upgraded version. It's also in my price range pretty much.

Are the Gretsch pickups usually quite alright or do they suck? Have to include that in the price. The guitar is already 1500 SEK more expensive than the Casino.

I own the DeArmond Starfire Custom. It's one of the ones with Gold Tone pickups.

The picture is of a Guild Starfire IV, but the Starfire Custom looks exactly the same except for the badging.

It's an absolutely wonderful guitar. The new mid-priced Gretches aren't bad guitars either, except for that clear pick guard. I played one at Sam Ash earlier today and was more than half tempted to put that bitch on a recently payed off credit card. My better senses won out though and I came home to my DeArmond & Fender Jag.

If I had the money for it, I would take this over the other one

That's pretty. But when the say 3/4 size, do they mean just the shallow depth, or are the bout sizes 3/4? That would probably put it near the size of a Les Paul, and if that's the case, that guitar wouldn't be for me. I like my archtops in their full-size glory.

The review at the bottom says it's 14" wide and 2.25" inches deep.

The current G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman is 17" wide and 2" deep with the Country Gent II being 17" wide and 2.25" deep.

I used to own an Aria FA-80 that was a knockoff of a Gretsch Tennessee. I bought it when shopping for a Gretsch because I thought it sounded significantly better(than the numerous Gretsch models on hand) and was probably from the same Korean factory. They can be had new for $650. It was stolen and I'm still hoping one will show up in a local store.
