Members Honky-Tonk
I hate mayo on my burgers, sandwitches, etc... But I like how it sounds on your guitar. Sounds like a cross between heavy distortion and fuzz.

Wish I'd learned about them before they started going for more than my guitar.

Members Instrospection
Is the Mayo based on some sort of Smashing Pumpkins thing? Ie: the song "Mayonnaise"? It also seems to be the Siamese Dream font....

Members wacopacco
I think skreddy is a SP fanBut I don't know the correlation A vintage, 4-transistor distortion, made with a tasteful blend of NOS and new parts, resulting in a creamy, grainy, circa 1971 fuzz tone (but with some extra kick). Modern upgrades include SMALL SIZE, DC power, LED on/off indicator, and true bypass switching. NEW: The Flat Mids option keeps your guitar in the mix! No more "fuzz gets lost in live band" syndrome.so 1971 i'd guess it's modeled after the triangle muff.
Members attic
Sounds very good to me. But totally not worth the current price. I don't really understand the big deal about the mayo. My little big muff sounds more than fine to me compared to a mayo.

My little big muff sounds more than fine to me compared to a mayo. the only reason they are expensive now is because they are no longer made. It was totally worth the new price when i got it. It's got tons more gain than the little big muff, and the tone control is 100x better. Plus with the added mids it takes it to a whole other level. The little big muff is to the Mayo what the ds1 is to the Klon.

I kind of plugged it in, tweaked a bit and had the sound I was looking for. The mayo may be better, but all the 'better' stuff on it would be stuff I don't think I'd ever use. Or need to use. Great if you like it though...
Members wacopacco
well i know if i was on a budget and looking for a good basic big muff, the LBM is for sure what i'd get. The differences between them are subtle still, so it's not really a huge deal. There is things about muffs that i hate, and Skreddy addresses those issues. I'm still looking at the Hoof since i love the general sound of muffs, and thats another great one. for a while i was considering selling the mayo and just getting a LBM. Members attic
I guess it's a matter of priorities. I don't use that much fuzz to justify costs above the LBM, but I do spend way more on a ring mod and delays, because those are the effects that define most of my sound... Right now, I think I need a wah. Appears to be sounding great with acoustic too, so that's a plus that could make me spend a lot of money on it. Can you say wah probe? Members Orwell
Sounds good but honestly I can't justify the current asking price for one of those. I've got a modded out Big Muff that sounds 'bigger' and I've heard that the Hoof is equally as good but for half the price of a Mayo.

And the Hoof is a great pedal for sure, but it's a different kind of muff than the Mayo. From what i gather, it's based on the green russian muff. Members Orwell
I've been seeing spammed Mayos going anywhere between $300 - $500. Back when they were being made weren't they only like $200 or something?

Members mrweems
That's a bit much for a big muff clone... It's not exactly a big muff clone, and it offers some improvements over the older one. Small hammond box. reg 9v true bypass and better sounding IMO.

My friend's brother had a gorgeous sonic blue/daphne blue one that I played a lot yesterday when demoing my Hiwatt. It was great. You can get some fantastic musicial feedback with that guitar.
