Members Dado Prso
IN YOUR OPINION if you had around $100 would you keep using your boosted classic 30 distortion or would you invest in a dist pedal?

Members greenweenie
If I liked my Classic 30 distortion, I'd save the $100 and get another thing. The Classic 30s I tried, I didn't like the distortion and the reliability issues are another thing. So IMO, I'd run the Classic 30 into gritty clean and buy a distortion or clean boost. Or both. You can get fairly decent clean boost and distortion for $100.
Members Uni123
Hi there,My classic 30 reacts very well with a Distortion Plus pedal to go from gritty to full on distorted when I set the pre-gain knob to just past break-up. This amp has quite alot of treble to it, so there are a few compromises if you want to tame that a little, as the Dist plus has no tone control. It also works very nice with a clean boost, but won't go very far "distortion-wise"Hope it helps in any way

If you like the dist., boost it, if you don't, get a dist. pedal. Good job finding that out. Do you want a cookie or something? The OP was just pointing out that it was funny how echo mentioned to get a delay, because he obviously likes delay. No need to get all sarcastic and such. Members echodeluxe
Your name is echodeluxe. OH NOEZ! im showing my true colors. i personally think the peavey classic line of amps are AMAZING when boosted. what sort of overdrive are you looking for? i would recommend a boss od-3. its affordable, and WAY underrated, and sounds amazing with the peavey classic amps, as well as lots of other amps. to be honest, the classic peavey amps take pedals VERY well, so anything you choose would be great. OOOH, go for a rat. awesome.

Members grayeyes777
i run a rat into the clean channel for my heavy and lead sounds and use the amps dirt for my crunch/od. i could do either though with that amp.
Members t_e_l_e
i have lots of fuzzes and a ts-9 in front of my classic 30. i like the overdrive channel too, but i was still something missing. then i got a marshall shredmaster and now i can get every grid i want tho i never tried a rat with it and boss pedals are not made for me

Members JAFH
I love the Gain Channel on my Classic 30, but I would recommend throwing a Mullard in your V2 preamp socket. As far as lead boost, I have used a Tube Screamer or just the EQ on my GT-10. Both work out really well, although I give the slight Edge to the TS-9. I agree with Echodeluxe, too - the Boss OD-3 works well, as does pretty much every pedal I've ever put through the Classic 30.
