Members mrweems
So. Since the new RE20's are out. Do you think that will drive the vintage price up? I've seen 201's had for 250 for the past year or so. And i'm looking on ebay right now, and there are BIN's for about 1000-1300. I suspect them to gain in value fairly soon. Are they that badass? I've always been intrigued to get one, ever since i found a list of who uses one AND heard an echo plex and videos of all kinds of tape delays. Its cheaper than the fulltone right now and its kinda big.. But worth it under $600?

But see i already have 3 guitars to keep clean and keep strings on. That would only add to that expense. I hate changing strings b/c they add up quick $$$. ANd i've wanted a space echo for about the same amount of time as the semi. And i want an Re201. Not re20.

I had a chance to get one for $440 a year ago but it had issues and I needed something for mobile use, 201s are big, plus the whole motor dying thing so I got a RE-20.... Re-20 = yummy

Members gtrwiz
wow, I'm shocked to see these prices! I always thought they were 200-300... Glad I have one! It's a cool box, but not THAT cool. Get an echoplex and be done with it.
Members Faldoe
Well unless you get one in good condition, good motor, good tape, etc. it won't be up to par. The one I played didn't impress me. I'm guessing (cause the guy that had it doesn't know jack about gear care) was losing it, it sounded like any other echo/delay. I don't doubt a excellent condition one sounds great but many people that own RE-201s say the RE-20s are pretty damn close.

Members Virex
I just got an RE-201 a couple weeks ago and due to paranoia I can't bring myself to gig with it. It's just the archetype of my favorite effect, so I had to have one as a studio piece. Before I bought my Timefactor, I had a RE-20 and loved it, but although nothing is closer than the RE-20, you can't beat the real deal. I absolutely love it. I paid about $450 and I felt that was a deal. It's not easy anymore to get a price like that, but I'm living proof their is the opportunity if you buy smart. Members Hiwatt Bob
i've got a korg stage echo (SE-300), got mine for $350 just a couple months ago. from what i've heard it's pretty much a space echo but with some mechanical improvements. anyhow--these don't garner the same name brand attention as the space echo, but they're just as good, maybe better--and can be had for a much lower price. for just straight up delay stuff--i like my echoplex's tone better. but the space echo/stage echo's have spring reverb which makes some cool efx. Members Daeveed
Dude for f*ck's sake don't buy a new TV. Winnar. Weems, what would you use the Space Echo for? gigs? bedroom? studio? I'd say, consider the amount of use the piece of gear will get, and then make a desicion. or not....it seems to me like you've already decided on the RE201, and are just looking for reassurance to get it. go for i if that's what you want, look around, and try to get a deal. Buy the Space Echo. It'll serve you right.
Members jrkirkish
I have an RE-201. I've been thinking about getting an RE-20 just for the tap tempo. The 201 is a nice box.
