I was just wondering out of the two, which would be a better overall overdrive pedal? I have an OD9 and its a great pedal but the clips for the OCD sound very good and I was thinking about getting an OCD. What do you guys use?

Thanks

Those are two very different pedals.

While a lot of overdrive pedals are based around the tube screamer concept (incl. the Maxon) and provide a sound that's a bit compressed but very smooth with lots of sustain, IMO the OCD is a bit different than most pedals. It really sounds nothing like the TS design...it is much more dynamic and open with more gain on tap. In a certain sense I think it is actually more like a cranked vintage amp - it is crunchier and very punchy, but it doesn't have the same smoothness and sustain that something like an OD9 would.

I like the OCD for some applications, especially classic rock rhythm and boosting the amp with a little bit of dirt. If you're going for a smooth Santana/Dumble/EJ singing lead tone it's not the best choice.
