I just got mine in the mail today...Unfortunately I don't have my tele back from getting set up and such til friday, so I'm using my strat (which I never liked the sound of strats into thick fuzz too much, unless its smooth David Gilmore esque). But anyway, give me some cool settings to mess around with. I know its not a crazy pedal to figure out but I have noticed that the tone and fuzz knob interact pretty strangely... Seems like you have to dial it in right. I'm looking for that thickfreakness type tone currently. I'm thinking my tele will sound alot more badass with it.

I really like mine a lot so far! Got it Monday from TF. The tone and fuzz knobs do interact a lot together. I've been running the fuzz around 1-2 o'clock and then tweaking the tone from 11-1 o'clock for some good black keys tones. The tone knob is useful in pretty much any position, and I can't believe how quiet the pedal is. It seems like you really need an amp that's starting to break up to hit with a fuzz to get the Thickfreakness sound.

Sweet. I'll try both of those out. Thanks. You def. need an amp thats cooking to get that thickfreakness sound, but my twin is not going to break up.haha. I tried using some light overdrive from my barber before the hoof and it didn't sound as good as I'd like...there was more definition, but I'm really not looking for that in a mean fuzz if you know what I'm saying...I'll be messing around with it tomorrow for sure. Thanks again.

I don't have a strat.

But I get a nice Thickfreakness tone out of my tele(neck PU) with the tone at about 10:30 to 11:00 and the Fuzz at about 3:00.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! I'll check that out as soon as I get my tele back from the shop friday.

I got some great rhythm sounds with the fuzz at 9 o'clock and Tone at 10-11 o'clock. Level was just above unity. I still don't know if I am going to keep it. I want to sleep on it. Now that my rig is changing, I don't think it fits the speaker change. It doesn't have a lot of minds and when I switch to 10" speakers I don't know how it will affect the sound. I wish I would have tried out the Tusk when I had the chance.

Never used a Hoof Fuzz but you would get more of a thickfreakness fuzztone using a different type of fuzz. The Hoof is a big muff style fuzz, but Dan used a Maestro MFZ-1 fuzz for thickfreakness and many others on that album. You would be wanting to use a Jordan Bosstone, Maestro, buzzy kind of fuzz like rolling stones satisfaction or incense and peppermints.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything. I really dig the black keys. Glad you do too. Rock on.

gotcha, but the hoof is nothing like a nyc big muff. compared them today and waaay different. the hoof is more like an overdrive compared to muff. The green russian big muff I'm guessing is what ya mean which is what the hoof is based off of, which also is Dans main fuzz live. I have an angry dick 2000 that sounds just like a jordan bosstone and it hasn't really done it for me in the past. Its not buzzy at all. I thought it was supposed to be more trebley and gritty...who knows. The american muff is the most buzziest I have. I've been nailing some of the keys songs from the newest album and the last though with the hoof. I want to check out a peppermint fuzz.

By the way, would you be willing to make me a maestro clone possibly?
