Hartman Flanger - anyone played one ?

I always thought the electric mistress was a little to clangy and metallic to make it great with dirt.

No way!

It's not clangy at all, unless you put the Colour knob way up high, or use the Filter Matrix mode.

It sounds cool with distortion, but can get a little 'too much' (ie not subtle), very swishy-swooshy, but the warmth and thickness is there, unlike some other flangers that "thin out" the signal & sound tinny when used with a lot of gain.

im looking for that sick and thick and cool flanger.....

it should be extra good with fuzz and distortion.

will the hartman deliver ?

also heard lots of great stuff about hartmann fuzzes, nothing on the flanger though

for flange also look into

Lovetone ? (sick)

Foxrox TZF (cool)

TC Electronics SCF (swedish)

ADA Flanger reissue (should be sick, thick and cool but is it out yet ?)

I'd really want one but it's been out of production for almost a year nowadays! I'm sure it is great; Theo is a top-notch builder. His hartman distortion is one of the best pedal I've ever tried and I can't see how it could leave my board!

They can occasionally be found on ebay - but I think the last one went for over $300.

When I was looking for a flanger I gave up on finding a Hartman and got a Davis moded Deluxe Electric Mistress instead. So you could always go that route...

I love mine--only flanger I really really like. it CAN do the metallic heavy swoosh but thats really like 10% of where its depth lies, the rest is extremely lush and (sorry for the buzzword) organic flangeing that is very musical and not the least bit harsh or metallic sounding. its pretty subtle so if you want an extreme flanger this isn't it. but if you want one that adds some wonderful sparkle without being too overwhelming I think its just right.
