question about transistors in the analogman sunface NKT-275

so i noticed mike changed his description of the nkt's used in the sunface. he now calls the ones he's been using "new" ones from the 70's, and says he's running out. i was wondering if the description change had to do with suggestions surfacing around the net of these NKT's authenticity being dubious in some way. so my question is twofold:

1: is the sunface NKT-275 on its last leg?

2: why did mike change his description? can anyone verify the NKT-275's are in fact old stock?

i bought one of these partially because the sound is nice, but mostly because i wanted a fuzzface with the correct/original/authentic tranny's before they went extinct. all this doubt surfacing on other forums is making me concerned. maybe Mike can chime in on this...

Sorry, this doesn't help at all in any way, but how do you like it compared to the mjm london fuzz II you had? I remember you praising it earlier.

they sound very different, both awesome. the LF is very bright, smooth and cutting. the sunface is mellow, chunky and dark

Gotcha. Thanks!

What amp are you running it into?

Sorry, I realized they'd be pretty different a little bit ago.. germanium vs. silicon. Heh.

into a 1967 twin reverb. i have to crank the mids and drop the highs with the MJM, the sunface doesn't alter the amps EQ at all which is nice.
