Pretty cool, but seriously expensive, particularly with the dollar as weak as it is. If my Romany is anything to go by I'll bet they sound great, but then so do lots of the US brands that cost less...

BTW Cornell are also now making AC30 "clones", which is another damn good reason to start saving your pennies :thu:

Slightly OT, but I've just got a Cornell Plexi Seven in here and it's amazing! I've got a 50w Marshall Plexi that is my main amp, and the Seven nails the Plexi sound, and it's actually more responsive than my Marshall one...

I'm going to get some of the new pedals in stock in a few weeks time, Denis is a great guy and makes great gear... I have a Cornell FuzzFace that's better than any other one I've tried, and I believe the '1st Fuzz' is based on this.

The 1st Fuzz doesn't have a 9v psu input, only takes a battery.

I suppose you could mod it, but you get such a long time out of 1 battery that I wouldn't bother personally... although, I know you'll be thinking of having to unplug it after each use on your board, etc...

Sound-wise, it's about the nicest germ Fuzz Face I've heard... It's very fat and full when your volume is full up and cleans up beautifully, becoming quite 'glassy' in the process.

I did a direct A/B with an Analogman Sunface NKT, and they were very close, not that much of a surprise given that they use the same transistors... I'd say the Cornell was a touch bigger sounding but you can coax more sounds out of the Sunface (because it has the Sundial bias control).

For the money, I don't think there is a better Fuzz Face out there than the 1st Fuzz. :)

does it have more gain than the sunface? i like the germanium sound, but there doesn't seem to be many to go over the edge..

like the frantone 'the sweet' demo here.. it sounds like it has gobs more gain than most fuzz face type pedals. maybe its more of a hybrid thing?

It has slightly more gain than the Sunface, but there's not much in it, tbh.

The Sweet doesn't sound much like a Fuzz Face to me, going by that video...

Given what you have said, you should check out the MI Audio Neo Fuzz... I reckon you'd like it, it'll get you Fuzz Face tones through to real spitty OTT fuzz. :thu:

Those 7w plexi cornells are amazing. I tried one at vintage&rare and it sounded perfect. Too bad it's so expensive.
