Analog or digital delay for Fall of Troy?

I'm going to buy a delay and I really dig the delays sound from the Fall of Troy especially the intro to F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. I know Thomas Erak uses Line 6 DL-4 but that is not really helpful because I don't want to spend that much for a delay (I'd rather spend that on multiple pedals).

It sounds digital to me. I can do the same with my moog analog delay, but then again I can do the same with my eventide timefactor as well. If you're trying to keep costs down, just go with the DD-3 and call it a day. Analog delays are pretty expensive.

FCPREMIX sounds really really good on my DMM. Unless some of their songs have long delay times, I'd recommend an analog. Digital delays are a lot easier to use live and I wouldn't be suprised if they use analog in the studio because you can set it perfectly.

That's weird, in an interview it listed his gear and it said 2 DL-4s.

live both..2 dl4s and i think 2 dd3s(he had tape over them) i got a crappy pic of his board at cinci. it was two huge boards full

i don't know why in the world you would need that many delays:cop:

Last time I checked, Thomas was using a DL-4, DD-5, RE-20 and Maxon AD-999. IIRC, he told me he took his DD-3 off of his after he got his RE-20. He said his RE-20 pretty much covers what his DD-3 did and did a better job of it. He still has the DD-3 in case his RE-20 craps out on him or if he just wants to throw it back on his board, though.

If it helps you at all, I'm pretty sure Thomas only uses his DL-4 for looping, his DD-5 for his long delays, RE-20 for short delays and the AD-999 for reverb-ish stuff and when he's soloing.
