Whats the difference in the les pauls versions?

Depends what you want. Main differences are things like binding, flame tops, neck type, pickups, paint finish, woods, etc. A Studio can sound similar to a Custom but the Custom will look more fancy and have a more expensive finish.

What's the best current les paul? Standard/classic/studio etc? And the difference?

 

 

It doesnt work like that for Gibsons. Pick the price point and then play at least 10. So from those 10 very different guitars, pick the one you like.

 

I kid not.

 

I compromised and tried 7 when I bought my Classic.
