Members bieke Posted June 18, 2008 Author Members Posted June 18, 2008 audio demo is not working for me
Members andrew_k Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 probably will have like 1 good sound and a bunch of extreme gain {censored}...Way to miss the point. While the demo doesn't sound particularly good, the fact that someone is taking this product to market is f***ing awesome. Shame the dev. environment for it runs on the least open-source-friendly of the 3 major operating environments
Members RoboPimp Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 yeah, because most guitarists are all about writing code
Members Lanefair Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 yeah, because most guitarists are all about writing code They wouldn't have to write code, just go on the forums and go 'i can has trivium song patch for teh coyote pedulz?'
Members bisticles Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 yeah, because most guitarists are all about writing code Doesn't matter. When given a good platform and tools, the open source programming community can turn out quality stuff. Just look at what you can do with a modded xbox, or the homebrew apps that people write for the iPhone. This isn't about just loading patches that people make, it's about writing and modifying the basic components that go into effects. I'm pretty psyched.
Members MakuseruSukotto Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 As an Ubuntu user and OSS advocate, all I can say is. DO WANT.
Members heykenny Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 sounds cool - but please add Mac compatibility! :poke:
Members CicadaSilence Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 yeah, because most guitarists are all about writing code JUST CUZ YR DUM DOESNT MEAN EVERY1 ELSE IS
Members Flying_Milkman Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 Looks cool, but it also looks to complicated for me.
Members vulcaniza P Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 JUST CUZ YR DUM DOESNT MEAN EVERY1 ELSE IS he's right
Members onyxrhino Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 sounds cool - but please add Mac compatibility!:poke: +1, It's the only thing I don't like about my Magicstomp. But yeah this is a really good idea whose time has come. Hope it doesn't get trampled by Line6's similar model.
Members Uma Floresta Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 This thread is full of WIN. Price??
Members bisticles Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 This thread is full of WIN.Price?? The development blog says that he's really trying to keep it under $300. So probably $299.
Members analogmike Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 yeah, because most guitarists are all about writing code LOL!!!
Members driverhasabomb Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 No way I'd pay $299 for that. Other than being small, how does it trump something like a podxt? You can download patches, effects, etc. I'm sure it will sell decently enough but I won't be an early adopter for that kind of thing.
Members Uma Floresta Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 The development blog says that he's really trying to keep it under $300. So probably $299. Pretty cool. It's expensive, but considering how much people pay for modded Tube Screamers ($400 and up), this is relatively cheap.
Members puretube Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 Does it do the: "Headroom Multiplication" "Envelope Borrower", "Barberpole Filter" and "Through Zero Fuzz" in Stereo?
Members slight-return Posted June 18, 2008 Members Posted June 18, 2008 Good fun! I used to use a soundart Chameleon and was really really disappointed it went orphan What's the DSP in it? I mean is it running the propellor as the OS management and a seperate DSP engine (sort of the the wildfire / 56K combo n the chameleon) don't really know the paralax line outside of STAMP
Members monsterbot Posted June 19, 2008 Members Posted June 19, 2008 Not to take away from this project (very exciting), but I believe the first open source multi-fx was the Miss Parker. Certainly not as refined as this unit, but still, it was the first. http://www.axoris.be/MissParker.php
Members jzucker Posted June 20, 2008 Members Posted June 20, 2008 i suggest doing some recordings with a strat and a les paul for continuity with most existing guitarists utilizing these tools. If you want some demo videos, send me a pm. You can hear some of my other demos at www.youtube.com/sheetsofsound
