Guitar vandalization?

Stickers don't inherently look bad or anything, if people want to do it why should I care. Hard to imagine Greenwood's Tele or Mascis' Jazzmasters without the stickers, gives them a little character.

Can't imagine it affects the tone at all, unless you used a huge sticker made of lead and sponge somehow.

I'm not sure it could affect the tone drastically; although there must me some loss of resonance. I'll let you decide whether that matters or not, 'cause I sure as hell ain't sure.

Aesthetically however, I would never adorn my guitar with stickers; if you want to make your guitar unique, play it to hell and wear it out naturally. It'll look cooler than stickers, that's for sure.

of course not, it would affect the resale value

 I don't cycle too many guitars actually, so that's not really an issue. Come to think of it, I've only had a small number of guitars in my career -- less than 10.

I think that it depends on the type of stickers involved. Example:

Random Stickers = You do your thing, J Mascis.

vs.

Other band's stickers = Harassy

Awesomeness of the owner may directly affect the coolness as well. Studies are currently underway.
