Members WhinyLittleRunt
There was a band playing last night and the keyboardist had (what I believe was) a Hammond X2. I couldn't tell how it sounded because I caught the tail end of their performance but after chatting with him a little he said he liked it. I'm sure he told me exactly what model it was but I was drinking so I can't remember Does it actually sound like a true hammond?
Members mate_stubb
Google is your friend. No, it does not sound like a real Hammond, but its raw tone is not much worse than some clones out there.
Members WhinyLittleRunt
Yeah, I just came across that pic also. How would you say it compares to the CX-3?
Members WhinyLittleRunt
I've never heard a B-250 before - that was pretty nice!
Members The Real MC
X-2 and X-5 organs were designed and made in Japan. The only thing that is Hammond about them is the badge. They sound more like a cheesy combo organ than a Hammond.
Members Moogoo
I used to own one and they don’t sound like a cheesy combo organ. They sound Hammond -ish with the limited drawbars and percussion. But it’s 100% solid state transistors...and so was the Leslie that accompanied it ; all solid state with a footswitch speed control. Present day software emulations do a much better job than the X2. But compared to my A-100 , well ... there is no comparison .
Members Freddie G.
I still Have my Hammond X-2 tucked away in the closet. I think it originally cost $1500. Without good amplification it doesn't sound great, but I put a 147 on it, and it was super at the time.
Members Outkaster
Get an XK 3 or XK3C if you want a better organ tone. They are a little older but they still hold up pretty well.
