...and, just to stir the sauce, the hardest core true funk on "Maggot Brain" really isn't a guitar-centric song at all.
:D

It's "You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks", which is all about the drums, bass, piano, and especially the vocals. The guitar work falls way into a secondary/tertiary role...as it often does with much funk.


Can you get with that?

 

Yup! To me "Standing on the Verge of Getting It On" moved the guitars to the forefront in more interesting ways and still retained the funk.

:thu: Love Eddie Hazel, easily my favorite player. I won't compare him to Hendrix but I will say that Eddie is the best funk guitar player ever. The guitar work on "Good to your earhole" off Lets take it to the Stage is unbelievable. The opening riff, the fills, the solos everything fits perfect and is funky as fuck at the same time. R.I.P. Eddie :cry:
