Boss serial number decoder...

I was cruising around Analogman's site and I saw a link I hadn't noticed before - it takes you to a Boss serial number decoder site - type in your pedal's serial number, and out pops the month and year it was made.

Apparently my MIJ silver screw CE-2 was made in June of 1980. For some reason, I thought it was newer than that, but now I know. I've got a few others I'm going to check later. Anyway, it's a pretty cool site - check it out.

March '83 for my PH-1r. Which also surprised me - I thought it was a MIT, not a MIJ.
:idk:

October '04 for my DS-1, and August '95 for my MT-2.
Yes, I have a Metal Zone - it was a gift - HONEST!!

I'll have to pull my PN-2 off the board to check the S/N, but it HAS to be early 90s.

It seems that ALL PN-2s were made in 1990...

on the PN-2 page at Boss Area it says that manufacturing only spanned a period 10 months.

Awesome.

My SD-2 was made in March of 93

Crazy to think I was 5 when it was made

Also, it says "The SD-2 was sold from April 1993 to December 1998."
:idk:

why the ":idk:"?

that probably means you got one of the first SD-2s... obviously they had to make them before they could start selling them. ;)
