if you don't need a switch on it (or you're able to get it modified), there's the Yamaha NE-1?

i've only ever had a Boss PQ-3b.. had a ton of eq ina such a small box.. pretty damn cool. cheaper than the PQ-4 if you can track them down too.

Korg PEQ-1. If you can find one. Old discontinued one. Really great P EQ for my needs.

:thu: i have a PEQ-1 and think it is really good.

although, it only has one EQ band so may not be what the OP is looking for...

i also have a 3-band Guyatone PS-022 which is stunning.

(probably not that easy to find though.)

Dr. Scientist Cleanness. No, it's not cheap, but probably cheaper than the Empress.

Amongst the boutique ones, I'd go with the Fromel. I believe it's based on the vintage Ibanez param EQ?

If looking at cheaper options, I'd personally go find an obscure Japanese parametric EQs going cheap on eBay or something, Korg, Pearl, etc. It seems to me that not many people are making param EQs anymore, which is a shame, 'cause I think they're way cooler than graphic EQs for some reason. Call me old-school.
