A/B'd with a peppermint fuzz(which also sounded great!)

This thing ooozes with vibe and has

47,659.036 tons of gain.

Not a one trick pony at all.

Very versatile.

Love it.

Stuck my plug in it,

Honeymoon consummated.

Thanks Nick, and Co.

Also, True Tone rocks!

Took my kid, he seems to like Star Wars and Merkins:idk:

I'm thinking about getting a fuzz that'll be different enough from a fuzzface and muff, and The Mirkin seems like a good contender. It's more or less in the Fuzzbrite catergory of fuzz isn't it? Although, even if it is, just how different is it to a muff or fuzz face?

Not close to either FF or BM.
It's definetly in the fuzzbrite catagory.
I would say it's more in the Tone Bender catagory than a FF of Muff,
MK 1 or 1.5 and silicon III as it pretty versatille.
Not saying it's a Tone Bender clone at all,
Just that it's closer to that than either a Face or Muff.
Fuzzier than a Face.
More upper mids than a Muff, and it can be dialed in so that chords sound:love:

You can almost nail the Fuzzbrite sound with the right combination of
texture and gain settings.
Although An actual fuzz brites sounds a bit raspier imo, the Merkin can get
extremely close and also get a many different '60's psychedelic type tones,
whereas the Fuzzbrite only sounds like a Fuzzbrite.

It complements my collection of SuperFuzz, Stone Bender, Fuzz Face, Octavia, quite well.
I don't feel like I have much redundancy going on.

 Just when I want to stop buying {censored} I don't really need, along comes some kind of bloody "just right" Goldilocks fuzz pedal.

Pardon the fuzz noob, but how would the Merkin compare to a Tonebender?

I don't know.

There is, to me, something tone benderish about it but

I can't intelligently comment since I just got the Merkin.

But I think it's a good question.

There's different types of Tonebenders too.

Fuzzrite, Tone Bender 1, Tone Bender 1.5, Tone Bender III, Maestro FZ-1,

all sound different.

For about 150 bucks The Merkin can do a damn decent job

at capturing the vibe of all of them via the

Texture knob and the huge amount of gain thats on tap. imo.

It would be inaccurate to think of the Merkin as a clone of anyone of those pedals.

When I have a chance I will A/B it with my Stonebender (a mkii-ish fuzz)

Sorry I cant be any help.

If anyone from CB could comment on The Merkin/Tonebender connection, if any,

I would love to hear about it as well.

Well, it's got three transistors but it isn't a tone bender at all.
