Members Loobs
I imagine there's a slight difference, I assume they don't sound quite a big...?
Members BTBAM
339 doesn't feed back as much as the 335.
Members claytonjohn18
The sound is pretty different, given that they're in the same "ballpark" of sounds. I really didn't like how the one I found played. Something about the neck, body size, radius and pickups just added up to for me. My buddy Josh seemed to like it though I was kinda shocked that I think my Casino plays better (for like 1/8 the cost). But if you're only focused on sound, the answer is yes. Obviously there's a ton of overlap, but you're looking at a lot less warmth out of the 339.
Members SharkMinusBear
The 339 sounds like half les Paul, half 335. I personally think he 335 is the way to go. I'll send you a pic of my new epi elite 335 when I get home, it sounds {censored}ing fantastic

Members six acre lake
I love 339s. Smaller body FTW I actually feel the opposite. I love the slimmer neck option the 339 offers but I prefer a larger body like the 335.
Members Loobs
The general consensus is that the 335 is a better sounding, more unique instrument.
Members RoboPimp
I don't care for them so much I like the 335 better as wellI think I'm back in my les paul phase tho
Members SnorkelMonkey
I personally think he 335 is the way to go. I used to think a 335 was kind of ugly. I put up with the look for the tone. Now I think they are a thing of beauty but in the back of my head that original impression is still there. So... If I'm doing it for the tone why would I want unleaded when I'm trying to burn up the roads with a super charged V8?
Members TomCTC
I actually feel the opposite. I love the slimmer neck option the 339 offers but I prefer a larger body like the 335.This times a million. The 339 looks like a child's guitar. I'm a pretty tall guy, so that teeny body just doesn't fit me as well as a full sized 335 does. Everytime I see it, it reminds me of this compared to a normal Les Paul:

Members juice
I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and am in love with it. I'm not a fan of the huge bodied 335, so I dig the smaller scale of the 339 (I'm 6'0", fwiw). I feel like I get closer to the sustain of a Les Paul without the weight and with more of the woody openness of a semihollow. It's not exactly like a 335, but a nice in-between, which is perfect for me. A lot of people complain about the Memphis tone circuit, but I actually dig it a lot. You retain the highs when you roll back off of the knobs so it doesn't get muddy too quickly like other Gibsons I've played. Here's pics of mine:

Members SnorkelMonkey
Lesser Paul?Nah man, Gibson got hip to all the hate threads popping up about them not being able to make a decent low priced guitar. This is the econo-paul. It's a short scale and takes some getting used to but it's half the price of a real LP.

Members ibentmywookie
I find the ES-339 to be uncomfortable. The upper horn awkwardly jabs at my rib cage.

Members juice
Btw, how do you like the 57 Classics? I've heard them in other Gibsons and not liked them very much, but in this guitar they just work. I have no intentions of changing anything out on mine. Members soulsonic
any random Casino > any 335 or 339 I've tried (I tried several).Once you get into the full hollow body thing, those semi hollows just don't do it anymore.
