Short review of the fulltone catalyst.

First let me say why you read bad reviews about this pedal. If you think this is something that you can play at bedroom levels and cop a good overdrive or fuzz sound you are mistaken. This pedal needs to breath.

Now the good things. I have used an ltd for a long time for that transparent slightly overdriven tones. This thing does that in spades very dynamic to your picking style with no noticeable compression. Then when you get farther into the gain stage you get a slight fuzz to it. These are tones that can be copped on the spark side.

Then when you get into the flame setting is where things get fun. Lots of different Fuzzes in this pedal. To the extent that I will use this one for my main rig. From a 60's traditional to massive mids. The eq is very sensitive to everything that is going on with this pedal. Its not a pedal that is plug and play, you need to tweak but when you find settings they are just stellar. Positive I will be gigging with this thing.

Wow, A Fulltone review on HCFX!

Thanks for the review - I've been curious about this one and the Plimsole.

I dug my Plimsoul a lot, but I let it go because my high gain needs are covered.

It's voiced pretty well, and does the Tubescreamer-in-front-of-a-Marshall sound by itself pretty well. One of the few Fulltone pedals that I think sounds better at 9v instead of 18v (compresses more easily!).
