Firewire interfaces: What are you using?

Got a Macbook Pro, interested in ditching my USB interface for a firewire.

I've been looking into a few - the RME Fireface 400 looks great but is a little out of my price range, even used.

I was also eying the Focusrite Saffire Pro 26, the Motu Ultralite MK3.

I'd be using the setup live so I'd need stable, low latencies. I don't need tons of I/O - don't necessarily plan on recording a lot of tracks.

Thoughts, suggestions?

edirol fa-101, been going strong without issue for years.

any reason you're set on FireWire? I don't think it really offers any advantage over USB 3.0 these days. it's potentially slower. if there were a thunderbolt based interface I'd seriously consider that, but thunderbolt isn't that common so it's doubtful.

we have two presonus inspire 1394. 4 inputs each stacked via firewire if we want to record drums with max 8 mics

works great, is a bit old, still some available on the pretty cheaps new

and they made some follow up product i guess which could also be worth looking at

oh and its less than half the price of an apogee duet, some love the apogee, but from the spec the presonus thing offers at least the same features
