The Best Beatles Album That Never Was

The Beatles, well... it was as close as I or my family ever got to a religion.

George was held in the highest regard. Dark Horse indeed.

I miss him, and the recent documentary on him was beautiful.

My mom was a screaming Beatles fan. My earliest memory is running around a coffee table faster and faster to ALL TOGETHER NOW with my sister.

The orange and yellow 45's were the best ones to put on the record player: knew this before I could READ. That and the ones with the APPLE.

I think hearing John Lennon had been shot and died was the saddest moment of my young life.

My sister named her twin boys George and Maxwell (Silver's Hammer)... I considered Harrison, but a friend beat me to it.

For the record, my kids are Ella (Fitzgerald) and (Bob) Dylan. Zimmerman would've been a stretch.

I named my dog McCartney.

As a teacher, I play the Yellow Submarine movie ever year in June. It never fails to amuse me that they have no idea what absurdity is. They ALWAYS sing along spontaneously.

I guess this is my confession booth.

"Taxman", "Here Comes The Sun", and "Something" all rank among my favorite Beatles songs.

At my least favorite, Harrison songs sometimes came off as too preachy, or sardonic, or acrid.

I haven't played All Things Must Pass in a while. I need to dive into it again. In past listenings, it never struck me as a favorite. But sometimes things grow on me with age.

I discovevered this album pretty late, as in 2-3 years ago, and since then has become my favourite Beatles album as well. And to think that Paul and John refused most of these songs...

Ps: I do agree with George, when asked what he thought of the album, a bit too much reverb.

Yes! I love this album! George Harrison is my favourite Beatle. I love his songwriting (secondary dominant style), his guitar playing, his voice.....

He's probably in my top 3 favourite slide guitar players ever as well. Also some nice guitar playing on this album from the guitar player every body loves to hate, Eric Clapton.....

A 7" of "How Do You Sleep" b/w "Dear Boy" would have preceded the following:

Side 2

Mother

My Sweet Lord is a daringly religious song. Really put himself out there. As an athiest, I sing along wholeheartedly. I respect George's mantras and connections to the Hare Krishna as a method to bringing inner peace. Right on.

BTW, my phone didn't have athiest in the autofill, but Krishna it knew?
