Members Cliff Fiscal
Do any of you use a Q filter, drastic EQ or cocked wah for your main sound? I realized that I really dig an element of cocked wah, or almost nasally mids in my tone. I'm thinking about using a line selector to blend in that sort of tone with my standard dirty tone...... Anyone try this? Does it get tiring to the ear?
Members Dr.Picklebottom
having the ps5 in the whammy bar mode while not being used sounded kinda like that. it gave everything the wierd digitally sound i kinda liked.
Members Fender&EHX4ever
Not as a "main sound." Not really sure I even have a "main sound." But yeah, I use the cocked wah tone quite a bit, and my EHX RI Hot Tubes is probably my favorite way to accomplish it.

Members conky
When I hear someone say cocked way sound I immediately think of Down by 311. That said, I do like the cocked wah tone.
Members RockNote
Michael Schenker comes to mind. Some talk of "overusing" a wah. (I've heard Jeff Beck do this.) To me, this is nonsense. However, a wah can be used in trivial ways.
Members ToonHollow
I think it's neat. Wouldn't mind trying a Stone Deaf PDF-1 if they weren't so expensive.
Members npfrs
I use the Keeleey Nova Wah a ton. I've been eyeing that lately, but can't justify the price...

Looked this up.....Ooooo... That's pretty much awesome. Too bad on the price though.....not popular enough for a used market. QotSA definitely have that sort of tone going on. I'm mostly looking to find a sonic space in a dense mix with another guitar player.
Members eti
I use a lowpass filter a lot, or a wah. Q-adjustable is preferred.

I looked it up - and listened to clips. I wish the aux out had been a proper wet stereo out, which was what I thought it was at first. Members befey
I use the middle position on my Les Paul which is wired out of phase for "that Peter Green" tone. Does that count?
Members mlabbee
Wasn't the cocked wah sound a big part of Mick Ronson's tone with Bowie?
Members Harry_Manback1
I use an original Q-zone a ton. And I've had my eye on that Stonedeaf PDF-1 for nearly a year. Would love to pick one up used.

Members Cirrus
Wasn't the cocked wah sound a big part of Mick Ronson's tone with Bowie? Yep - apparently he'd just sweep it for each song 'til he found a position he liked then not touch it after that.
Members Fender&EHX4ever
The Hot Tubes is honky or nasally? It has a paracyclic filter, so if you ride the bass knob you get a wah effect.
Phil O'Keefe
Wasn't the cocked wah sound a big part of Mick Ronson's tone with Bowie? Yes it was. Brian May was known to use it a time or two as well.
