Members elsupermanny14
So I'm just curious what the difference is between a powered pedal board like a Furman that comes with all of the power hookups already built into it and something like a pedaltrain board with a power source strapped on to it. What are the pros and cons of each? Any reason to like one over the other?
Members Taylor.
Having never owned a Furman, here are the reasons I'd prefer the seperate board/supply: 1. You can use whatever power supply and power cables you want for specific power. How much versatility does the Furman give you? 12V, AC, etc?2. If it should ever break you're kind of up a creek. The Furman and SKB both come with eight 9-volt connectors and three wall outlets built into the unit. They also include all of the adapter cables and in the case of the SKB a pretty damn rugged hard plastic case.
Members Frankenstrat86
Furman's are heavy the ps is inflexible as many pedals need more volts or ma draw, as said if the ps dies you have a clunk of wood. Seperate supply allows you to get almost exactly what you need and usually is far more rugged
