I had a realization about wah pedals and their connection to 70s porn

The wah pedal is oft associated with 70s porn movies. It seems that many people associate 70s porn music with wahs even if they haven't even seen any 70s porn. I can't say that I've seen any 70s porn but when I hear the phrase "70s porn music" I think of the wah-chika-wha-wha sound.

Earlier tonight I had an epiphany regarding this. The wah was originally made to emulate a muted trumpet sound and originally intended for wind instruments rather than guitar. The muted trumpet sound was long associated with burlesque films. Seems like a natural progression? What do you think?

Wah was used in ALL the cop/detective shows in the 70's during opening credits and chase sequences. "High tension" portions of the shows. I suspect it just followed that.

Such as the following classic example.[video=youtube;GH7VFJjDhVU]

I swear Laurie Johnson used wah on everything on The Professionals soundtrack at some point, other than maybe drums. I certainly remember there being wah cello in one episode.

They needed some rights-free music that sounded like contemporary stuff, lasted for several minutes, and didn't distract the viewer. So wanking on a wah pedal for 15 minutes was the solution they went for.
