It didn't seem that bad to me. IDK. I went to the store up the street without incident. Seemed fine. Poor, sure. But most places we play are in dicey neighborhoods. Yeah, Charlotte doesn't have {censored} on bigger cities that aren't giant suburbs and get called cities by technicality. A couple of blocks around the Milestone seem okay, but beyond that it becomes less friendly.
