Members Hupia
i'm surprised no one's said anything about Pan's Labyrinth being in the list... Not a scary movie at all... Wasn't supposed to be, I think... I liked it a lot, but not a horror film

Members Fender&EHX4ever
I love Cronenberg, but his stuff is really messed up. I think he made it in that list more than any other director.

Members Strat Slinger
I remember watching a particular movie as a kid quite frequently. I for the life of me can't remember the name. It was a movie about people locked up in a church and there were tunnels underneath the church and demons were running around in them and would come up occasionally and kill people or something. And one of the demons punched a priest through the chest and ripped his heart out.. Does anyone know what movie im talking about?!

Members jorhay1
Ring was scary and I think it deserves #4.A murdering freak coming out of the TV was pretty simple but brilliantly doneI was surprised that the review didn't mention the original Japanese version. My wife (japanese) thought the Japanese version was scarier.I thought the American version was scarier. This isn't surprising. There were things culturally scary to her like just an old tatami room. When she was a little girl, just going into a 100+ year old tatami room at her grand parentsused to freak her out. She, and i assume other Japanese, associate tatami rooms with obake (ghosts). But to me there was nothing scary about a scene being filmed in a tatami room. Jaws was really scary when you consider it changed the way millions of people's awareness about sharks, going in the ocean, discovery channels shark week.In the long run it might have been the scariest of all.Not the movie itself, but the effect of fear that it had and continues to hold on zillions of people all over the world. Members Fender&EHX4ever
and this is not an easy film to watch. But I guess that isn't the point.
Members Supreme Pancake
I really want to see that. Is it any good, or is it like an Emmerich flick? It didn't do much for me. Never thought any part of it was scary or provoking. Would of put 28 weeks up higher.
Members orourke
This quote from their synopsis of "Rosmary's Baby" kind of cracked me up. Said like a true Bostonian:Roman Polanski wrote the screenplay to this classic, which deserves credit for its sheer audacity: the devil on earth? We thought that honor went to Derek Jeter. Members Ronsonic B
I haven't seen The Thing since I was a kid. I remember it being scary, but the number 1 scary film? Really?http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/gallery/top_50_scary_movies?pg=50 The Thing was good. But number one is Alien. Saw it based on a one sentence review by Harlan Ellison, "It will scare the peanuts out of your M&Ms." You can trust him for that sort of thing.
