Members jockman Posted October 7, 2005 Members Posted October 7, 2005 Thanks for the clips. I always think speaker soundclips are pretty hard to determine how the speaker sounds, different amps and guitars and settings to what I would use. I would love to hear them played clean or with the amp just on the verge of overdriving. I am on the market for a new speaker, my amp is a 20 watt 2xEL84 + 2x 5751, it has a volume, treble and bass, thats all, I like BIG FULL sounds, i want a speaker that has big bass and smooth treble, with no mid hump, the G12H-30-55hz is the one I have in mind, but can never really hear it as above. I play bluse/rock. Jon
Members Greazygeo Posted October 7, 2005 Members Posted October 7, 2005 THe H30 sounds really good......the V30 does not (no big surprise there though). Thanks for posting, George
Members Speed_Racer71 Posted October 7, 2005 Members Posted October 7, 2005 talk about a tough choice..hmmm.. i liked them both..so i guess youll have to get a 4x12 with both sets in them
Members danhops Posted October 7, 2005 Members Posted October 7, 2005 Both sound pretty good to me. The V-30's sounds a bit more hyped in the low mids, and the highs a bit rolled off, and the H-30 has a nice bite up top that I like. Personally I like both speakers, and could go either way depending on the amp being used.

I like the 80 much more than any of the others. It sounded more full and projected the notes better IMO. I'm not a v30 fan.
Members danbronson Posted October 8, 2005 Members Posted October 8, 2005 i liked the H30s best the first time around, then listened again and felt the v30s sounded more 3-dimensional to me.my vote goes to the v30s, but just BARELY.now let's get a direct v30 to greenback to alnico blue comparison!
Members danbronson Posted October 8, 2005 Members Posted October 8, 2005 hmm also listened to those other four clips... i can appreciate the cl80s, though they're so even sounding that there's no real 'flavor', which is what i really look for. the h30s go raped, must have been the cab. greenbacks sounded really nice, my favorite of the bunch just cause they're so rich and musical sounding v30s ALMOST won for me, they sound punchier than the GBs, but lack the overall ear-pleasing flavor that i look for. i felt the same way about the GBs and the V30s when i a/b'd them in real life too, although at the time i was looking for 'punch' so i picked up a v30 loaded cab.
Members JPOM Posted October 8, 2005 Members Posted October 8, 2005 the H30 suits more to the type of the clip but the vintage30 is kind of heaveyer and i liked it a lot! great compression!
